Why is the display on my stock radio so dim? Is there a fix?

The best fix is to replace it. I bought an awesome JVC unit for $85 at Best Buy. Of course, if you want the satin color, you've got to go with a marine head, that will set you back about $200.

If you can find a shop with parts, try to get it fixed, it is either the backlight itself, or the display driver - there is no adjustment in those units. Plan to spend $75 minimum, to well over $100 to get it fixed, IF you can find a shop that can get the part(s) needed.

Or, buy a new used one, members here often have one for sale for around $50-100.

Dim? With the Dash lights on or off?
Is there signs of the display being illuminated from behind.
Do the dash lights dim with the dimmer properly.
What year is the car? Early cars had bad displays.
You can open up the radio and change the bulb if need be.
