Key Replacement OEM $120 USD
Re: Key Replacement OEM $120 USD
I am sort of new to the forum. I have not been here in years. I came looking for a source for a replacement key and have read this whole thread, especially the posts by Moore2575. I believe that it is possible for someone adept at programming to work out a solution for us. I have no reason to doubt the sincerity of Moore2575's claims that he has done that. I also realize that we live in a real world where large corporations will hound people with lawyers and police in order to preserve their sometimes obscene profits. It makes sense to me that Moore2575 would need to be discreet about sharing this information. It seems Moore2575's altruistic attempts at helping others on this forum discreetly were met with rudeness and heavy handedness, and instead of helping others on this forum gain the relevant knowledge, this heavy handedness actually acted to shut down dissemination of this knowledge.
In short, I believe the forum has mistreated Moore2575 and as a member of the forum, I would like to apologize for that. Whether or not he gives me the information by PM, I still believe the above to be the case.

Perhaps a Canadian forum member near the dealer would work a deal with you to purchase and ship the key to you. If not, it's a beautiful place to visit, and maybe you could justify a nice vacation trip - either by plane or car? (I drove my Crossfire over 3,000 miles through the eastern provinces last summer and loved it!)

This company said that they had only the codes for cars sold in Canada. I guess that makes me unlucky as my car was sold in the US.

The deal only applies to Canadian cars, not to Canadian market cars later sold to someone south of the border. I am going to see about a US market car imported to Canada just to clear up the issue.

Good luck, Funny, did you see on that bag the keys came in? Looks like the keys came from a MB place in Texas! In a nutshell, seems MB will send keys to a shop in Canada, for a Canadian SRT6 (at least). Very confusing setup they have to program a key but only for a Canadian crossfire..
