Looking for a reliable Crossfire mechanic in Florida panhandle
Trying to find a Crossfire mechanic in the Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Fl area. Local dealerships do not have certified technicians
Try an Independent Mercedes mechanic or European car mechanic. All of the mechanicals are Mercedes. If it is top related try a conv. top shop. If it is body related try a body shop. I wouldn't take mine to a stealership anyway. "Not a typo" !!!
you will see that Matt will travel to you
but what is your problem maybe we can tell you how to fix it yourself.

NEVER never (have I said never???) take it to a stealership B4 spending some quality time here troubleshooting (and most probably fixing it saving $$$$$$) your car! If $ is not a concern and you positively have to have it here, now and working (I repeat never take it to a stealership), go to an independent MB (it is mostly a MB complete drivetrain) mechanic! Good luck (if you take it to a stealership you'll need it).
.
Thanks for the replies. I don’t have any issues currently. I bought my ‘04 a couple of months ago. I’ve had to replace the blower resistor and RCM, which are common problems. I’m trying to buy a backup SKREEM, just in case. Really trying to find a mechanic to go over it and find out if there are any other issues I may have to deal with. Really happy with my purchase so far. The diagnostic help on this forum is really top notch.
Best thing you could do now is a complete fluid swap.
Oil
Coolant
Brake fluid
Power steering fluid
transmission fluid
differential fluid

The soonest you may, and I say may be able to order a backup screem is January 2020, as there are none available at this time. If and when they become available, Needswings would probably be your best source.
As others have said, you want a Mercedes-skilled shop that you can trust.
Oddly, I found little "Glovers' Garage" in Cumming, GA to be a great place to take the car. One of the owner's wives' had an SLK320 with 280,000 on it that she bought new many years ago.
He'd been all thru that car and understood my Roadster right away.
But as George said, there is no reason to find someone to "look at the car", our cars are old enough, they ALL need complete fluid changes, new fuel filter-regulators, new belt, new battery (if over four years old) and a good quality polish and wax !
Oh, order a Crank sensor and put it in the trunk - don't buy one locally, get a BOSCH part and keep it in the car.
MichaelG,
What Pizza said...
Plus, Since getting our 2004 last year I have replaced the SKREEM, CPS (Crank), CPS (Cam), and RCM with new.
I carry the old parts (all were operational when replaced) along with the required tools to re-replace them.
Maybe a bit over precautious, but....
Something I learned as the Chief Engineer on an old 1957 1200 PSI steam Navy Destroyer before operating independently in the Middle East and Indian Ocean.
When far from home, you've got the parts you have, not the parts you wish you had.
I had fan rooms stashed with spare valves, various components and "special" gaskets beyond what was "authorized" in the supply department bins.
Would have failed an admin inspection with all of the "unauthorized" stuff, but the ship came safely back Stateside with empty fan rooms and some depleted supply bins.
So I can say "No worries, Mate!" when underway in the old Silver Bullet.

Thanks for all of the great advice. I have a SKREEM on back order. Hoping for availability in Jan 2020. Have replaced battery, belt, RCM, blower resistor. Changing out all fluids this weekend. Ordering both CPSs which I will install and keep originals as just in case spares. I reflowed solder connections in original RCM and have as a spare. Blower resistor failed, so I’ll buy another as a spare. Agree whole heartedly with having spare parts and tools readily available. Not going to find them if you have a failure while on a road trip. No longer looking for a certified Crossfire tech as there is so much knowledge available here if I have a problem arise.
