Default Crossfire Furniture - Something New and Unique

Other Title Thoughts:
  • How I’m disguising spare part storage
  • What to do while in quarantine
  • Wife keeps telling me to go in the basement

Pictures of a work in progress. I since added the armrests, and a power supply for the seat adjustment motors, but need to take a picture of that. The wheels are going to be stacked for a higher table. The silver wheel on the left already has the glass top shown in place. I found a larger pipe with a repair collar that fits perfectly in the wheel centers to keep them aligned in place. I also have a plan to add protection between the wheels when stacked and adding a bottom with wheels to move it around. The seats have some creases from being folded over in storage that I need to heat/steam to remove. The former kids play room, turned movie room, now needs a man cave/garage theme repaint. More surprises to follow, but it's dependent on my Ikea order which has been delayed another month because they have been closed.

Very nice!

So I have a wing I was planning on mounting on the opposite wall, but was just thinking of fabricating a stiff, but bent wide metal bracket to hang it so that the wing itself would be parrallel to the wall. The oak wood mount you have shown looks so much better than my plan. It's perfect! If you don't mind, I'm going to borrow your mounting idea. I happen to have some oak left over from making the chair armrests.

I certainly understand that. What kind of started this was my wife saying "why don't you make a Crossfire space in the basement".

Your a good man, I trust you know if you balked at any suggestion like that, you would be outside in the favorite pets house while the pet was inside warm and cozy!

So I finished the chairs and side tables. I also made a set of lamps using Crossfire camshafts. There are more things in process on the opposite wall.

Toolman, That is very nice! Don't get too comfy though because the real thing is always waiting in the garage.
What's that Snap-on thing? It looks like an old gas pump.

Looks really great.

I hope that they are a lot more comfortable in your home than they are in the car.

8 hours in those seats can be hard day

Don't need that popping up when I don't need it.
My oldest son, a former Crossfire owner, suggested I paint the armrests with peeling paint.

I agree. I will be glad to see when car shows and outdoor events are safely resumed in the area.

That is a 1/2 scale Wayne 60 gas pump replica, but made to be a display cabinet. They were made to give to Snap On Tools Franchisees. It fit the automotive theme and I like how it will usefll to store a few Crossfire items.

I absoltely agree with your point. When building the seat frames I was able to adjust the dimensions to be the most comfortable for me. In addition, if you look under the right seat you will see a square box which is a 12v power supply to be able to use the seat motors for adjustment. I have found the SRT 6 seats, with the higher density foam, are not what I would want for an 8 hour drive.

My son and I drove my SRT from Fort Lauderdale to Toronto, Canada in a non stop drive, on the way we purchased foam seats and back supports. They helped a little but I felt crippled when we got home.

Thanks, I never knew that. I own a Limited but I could tell during my 2 different test drives that SRT6s rode more firmly by far. I thought that was all due to shock & springs.

If I were of the ilk where "money is no object" my Crossfire might sport 'pillow-top' seats!! As it is I have a $20 wedge-cushion that I took with me on my one multi-state all-day outing and it made the trip not just bearable but without discomfort.
