what did you think first time you saw 1 crossfire?
to me, it was like this: once i was driving when suddenly i saw a car that looked as if coming out of a dream. it was only a flash, and then it vanished into the traffic. it took a long time to see another alike. and still i see 1 once in a blue moon. at the time my life kept me at more urgent issues, but that image remained. until in recent time i was able to spend a few minutes searching for it. when i found it, i learned that it is the crossfire. the coupe. the most beautiful car i ever saw. and when i learned that, for some unfathomable reason, it is affordable to me, i had to buy 1. luckily i found 1 in pretty good shape, so now am a happy owner of the most fantastic car ever.
yes, there is the convertible version that is the most beautiful convertible, but to me, the coupes shape is the 1 that i dream of.
and the style is just what i have been longing for since i learned of cars of the wonderful days of the art deco, like the bugatti atlantic, or the lago talbot, and in more recent days, the jaguar xke...you got the idea...sedans...
and speaking of art deco, here is a description: "Art Deco, also called style moderne, movement in the decorative arts and architecture that originated in the 1920s and developed into a major style in western Europe and the United States during the 1930s. Its name was derived from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, where the style was first exhibited. Art Deco design represented modernism turned into fashion. Its products included both individually crafted luxury items and mass-produced wares, but, in either case, the intention was to create a sleek and antitraditional elegance that symbolized wealth and sophistication. "
so, what about you? tell us..
this is very much how i saw it:

Re: what did you think first time you saw 1 crossfire?
Well to be honest my first impression of the crossfire wasnt that great.
But the car was sitting between these three cars at the dealership (it was an all exotic car dealership).
Not the actual cars since I didnt think to take pics and should have this place was cool. But the same kind of cars.
My step dad was TOTALLY walking by all of these cars to pickup the crossfire and he never even paid any attention to the cars there at that dealership. He was all about that crossfire.
So while I cant claim love at first sight or anything my stepdad was head over heals in love with crossfires.

My thoughts exactly Especially since at the time he bought the crossfire 308's were going for about $25,000. But not anymore.
They had a mint 928 Porsche as you walked in (which is rare these days as they dont seem to age well from the ones I have seen in person), a few cobra replicas, vipers, ferrari's, and a bunch of other stuff. I cant remember what all it they had. I tried to do a google search for the dealership but no luck. It is or was located in gadsen alabama best I remember. I went with them to get it so they wouldnt have to deal with another vehicle after getting it.
Re: what did you think first time you saw 1 crossfire?
I first saw it at the 2002 or 2003 Detroit Auto Show and was impressed, When they came out with the roadster in 2005, I was convinced I wanted one. But I still baselined it against the Saturn Skye, BMW Z4, and SLK350. The first was attractive but crap and the other two overpriced. I wanted the stick, so ignored the SRT6 and the $15k markup. I added my SRT6, lightly used, in 2008. The 'vert still reminds me fondly of my 1974 Triumph TR6 which rusted away. Hence the Crossfires only see summer sun and are garaged.

"James Bond". 'Nuf said. Even today when filling it with gas at the gas pump people look at it and ask what it is. I've had people ask me if its a Bentley! I'm like, "Nope, it's a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire". They're like, "a what?" LOL!

what happens is that it is art deco: found this description that tells it well: " Art Deco design represented modernism turned into fashion. the intention was to create a sleek and antitraditional elegance that symbolized wealth and sophistication. "
it is a car with class. really is in the same class and looks of the bentley-and i think even better. it is just a matter of adding interiors similar to it. https://www.google.ca/search?q=bentl...w=1903&bih=937

A man after my own heart! Thought I was the only one that thought James Bond. I had my Pontiac Fiero for 27 years. Great, mint car but with travelling more in retirement we decided to get the Crossfire. When I first drove it, I felt like I should ditch the shorts and t-shirt and start wearing a conservative grey Bond like suit. Still trying to depress that urge as I enjoy the car in my grungy clothes.
And yes, like you , people don't know the car at all and are very impressed. Neighbour thought I won the lottery and bought a new car. When I told him the price, he was blown away as he guessed 5 times that!
About your link to amazon, you do know fleabay (e b a y) has these systems for much less than half the cost in that link? I've got two of them one of which is in my crossfire... Works great! Just saying!
Re: what did you think first time you saw 1 crossfire?
First for me was seeing the prototype in person at the Chrysler nationals. I was doing judging at the show so I got to sit in It. That sealed the deal for me. I so wish we at least got the spine on the back glass. Who cares if it distorts your view. Lol.
