Default What is this?

I found this lodged under the hood between the inner and outer fenders near the wiper fluid fill cap. The part has no numbers on it. What is it?

I've been an owner for fourteen years. A member here since 2009. Been to a lot of tech days and driving events. I have no clue, but there are two things I notice that are odd:

1) That Screw inside - what is that for?
2) It's been chewed on, at least, it LOOKS like it's been chewed on.

To me it looks like it's a pad from the base of a hollow table leg or chair, maybe from a garden or patio set?

I second that guess. It looks like an insert cap or end stopper for a chair or furniture leg.

The screw is interesting. It may not be part of the car?

Pretty screwy... Having that hitchhiking in your car, eh? Doesn't look like it belongs to anything inside the crossfire.

I agree with the others. It looks like an end cap that may have been kicked up by a car in front of you and unfortunately bounced up into your engine compartment. The screw inside looks like it's used in the manufacturing process. Probably to spread the edges when tightened down to keep it from slipping out of the leg.
Apparently Bob was drunk that day and forgot to tighten that screw!

A question keeps coming to my mind as I read thru this thread, I don’t disagree with any of the speculations posted but if the part was inserted into a table or whatever leg how would you tighten the screw?

I'm guessing the cap was inserted into the leg or whatever and was tightened before the top was assembled to it.
