Default Pink Floyd’s Richard Wright dies

Founding member of Pink Floyd Richard Wright has died today. Clicky

Pink Floyd are one of my favourite bands. I was hoping that they would have done a farewell tour with Roger Waters.

He’s as old as my dad is. Scary, eh?

That's sad news. The first album I ever bought when I was a kid was Dark Side of the Moon. It remains my all time fav PF album.

I got every album recorded from "Dark side of the Moon" on.
Some of the coolest music from my high school days.
It also sounds great in our Crossfires with the cap stereo mod !!

Sadly, I heard about this this afternoon at lunch.

I paid homage by going for a long drive after work with the top down and "The Wall" and both disc's of "echoes" blasting! Damn I love Floyd!

You really need to get some of the earlier Syd Barrett albums too - hear what they were like before Roger Waters took over. It’s great.

Even though I am too young to have seen their earlier tours, I did get top see them in the mid/late 1980’s and again in the mid 1990’s. I can claim to having heard their music live at a much younger age. Where my parents live was a hall across the road (used for dancing schools, religious gatherings and rock concerts), and this was on the gig circuit. Saturday nights could be quite bad for me as there were invariably concerts of some form, and being a small cild I needed to sleep. At the time I didn’t know it was Floyd, The Who or Zeppelin (amongst others) keeping me awake. If I knew than what I did now, I may have appreciated it more...

Sadly, that generation of musicians will start dropping off their perches, and with them pass a generation of great musicians.

You are so right Hairy ! The sixties and seventies unlike any generation before or after, produced some of the finest musicians the world has ever seen. Pink Floyd, The Who, The Beatles, Stones, Eric Clapton and Cream ! You Brits made a fine contribution to the world of music !

Have a cup of tea on me !

That's just my Dos Centavos

That's terrible news, HairyD.

Pink Floyd was always of favorite of mine since high school.

The Animals tour was one of the best shows I ever saw.
