I had some sun damage in certain spots that was actually pitted, but not much haze. I used this 2 part kit and was somewhat shocked at the results. It comes with 3 or 4 grades of fine sandpaper-a plasitic cleaner (like a wax application) and a sealer that glosses and creates sorta-U.V. resistant shiny (nail polish like) seal. Everything is there.
Tip. keep the sand paper continually wet-such fine grit gets clogged quick. After each grade change water-be as thorough with each grit of sand paper as possible. By the last grade, when wet it (the lens)should look very clear. the final sealer will look 3 or 4 times clearer than the water test.
Use a test run with the sealer! Wait for it to dry-if it doesn't look new back up a few sand paper grades and refine the surface. I had to do this but the results are basically new looking lenses. myheadlight.com had it.

I used the Crystal View product from Wal-Mart, the stuff works great, just make sure you keep the surface of the lens wet. I used a spray bottle filled with water. See the results in My Gallery.

 

I picked up a product from Autozone last weekend that is a headlight lens polish for $6 for my 03 Passat. The lens were extremly foggy and looked like crap. 15 minutes later after two applications to the driver and passengar lense and they looked like they were a different set. Definantly not brand new, nicely used. The difference was amazing and makes the Passat look much better and more appealing come trade in time for my X-Fire.

I use my Porter Cable buffer orange cutting pad and some Scratch X followed by some Zaino polish and a soft buffing pad. Takes all of 5 minutes to do both lenses and they come out crystal clear. No sanding, no muss no fuss, no elbow grease needed.

Whooaaaa I just used this on my extremely nasty foggy hazy yellowing lights and it was like night and day...

Usually I'm half scared to death doing these kinds of things, but this was super simple, super easy, super fast, super effective. The kit cost 19bucks at wal-mart and the premium masking tape to cover the edges was 4 bucks. So 23 total. Total time spent was about 30minutes...

The most difficult part was the last step where you applied the special UV protected polish. This is a super important part, but you get two chances at it, so dont freak out like i did at first.
- When opening it, be prepared for it to start flowing out, quickly apply it all to your little special cloth and apply it very precisely, make sure not to swirl but go back and forth horizontally. KEEP IT WET! While it is still wet and after you have covered the entire light... takes like 10-15sec. STOP. Let it dry. Do not worry about it being so wet or little bubbles... this is 100% natrual... later (5min) you get to apply this coat again, repeat the steps and let the light natrually dry to get brand new lights.


Not sure how this compares to 3M, but I basically have brand new lights...
