Lightbulb 45 offset wheels (9.5 wide) on rear of SRT6?

Last October, I had HP Autowerks in Santa Barbara upgrade my SRT6 with a Code 3 pulley, wrap kit, larger intercooler, Johnson pump, and Flash tune ECU mods. Wow, did that work!! And, they are really great guys to work with, stand up businessmen who love what they do. They bought the Code 3 product rights, and Brandon was there helping them do my mods. At my altitude in the Northwest (ID and WA) I ran a 13.5 quarter, last year, and now I run under 12.5, with runs as low as 12.34. Anyway, I now need better traction than my siped Pilot Sports (Not PS2s). I'm getting Mickey Thompson street radial drag tires, 245/40-18. I'm searching for a pair of inexpensive 18x9.5 wheels, and I found some, but with a 45 offset. My TSW Chrome Nogaros are 19x9.5, 35 offset. The tires sizes are a very close match, in all areas, but I don't have a clue as to if the 45 offset will work??? Can anyone help me? Please email me at idahojohn1@yahoo, ASAP. Thanks, -John

added 4/21 no cold air system, but did add Code 3 intake in front of firewall. Sounds wild.. Wheeeeeeeee!

John,
Not sure about the 45 offset. Most of the guys here are using smaller wheels (17" or 16") and MT or Hoosiers for the DR setup. I have the 17x8 Voxx MG's and put MT P275/40R17 DR's. These are a 5 spoke and would look similar to your Nogaro's. The smaller combination should give you a little less rolling mass to deal with.

Another option would be to find a set of the light MB wheels for you DR's..... that is my next quest..

Check out my 13lb 16" CLK wheels with MT ET Streets. These are the lightest wheels you will find for our cars, and the tires grip like a pitbull on a porkchop. Scroll to the bottom of the thread to see the wheels and tires on the car.

IMO 18" wheels are too big for a good DR setup.

I think I have about 9 or 10 passes on them now, and you cannot even tell that they have worn any. I have just done light spins on them to knock garbage off. You do not have to get these things hot to stick good. I will give you first dibs on them ok!

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.... I'm back to the drawing board, after your advice about less rolling mass and 16-17" rims. You know what they say... "If you're confused, you're about to learn" Thx, -John

No only will you have less rolling mass (unsprung weight) to deal with, here are a couple more things to consider. With a 16" wheel, you have higher sidewalls on the tires which allows you to run lower air pressure and give you sidewall flex to increase traction. So, for example with my setup, I drop the air pressure to 18lbs. If you take an 18" wheel and drop the pressure to 18lbs. you could run the risk of spinning the wheels off the rubber. Not a good thing. LOL Generally, I would think that with an 18" wheel, you would not want to go below 22lbs of pressure in the tires. Good luck.

How about some nitto drag 315's on 17x11 vette' rims. I got the spacers to make em' work. Consistent 1.7 60 fts over and over.
