Talking How to pull the pump without losing an ounce.

I just did the pump and regulator upgrade from Needswings in anticipation of more testing of the fuel controller that I have been working on. To do this you have to swap the fuel pump which will drain all the fuel in the tank above you, nasty thought.

The photo shows the installation of the pump in process and the fuel line CLOSED to eliminate the loss of fuel. This works well and is NO COST using an existing adjustable wrench. To stop the fuel loss, I place a standard wrench on the hose and tighten the jaws to close off the fuel.

The closure of the jaws pinches the hose together closing the hole. To do this, you grab the jaws of wrench with you hand and pinch them closed while adjusting the screw to further tighten the jaws.

It works well, has not damaged any hoses for me and is easy to do when you need to shut off a small diameter hose temporarly.

Hope it helps ya sometime, Woody

Woody,
I use vise grips with wood strips and just enough pressue to close off hoses.
I do like your method though... not as much chance of damaging the hose...
Your cat dosent look as confident as you that things are going to work well.....

Vise Grips (brand) also makes a pair with special jaws exactly for this purpose.
Works very well.

Grips clamps work great as well. Just squeeze them until they are nice and tight around it. Nice thing is they are compact and remain flat their entire travel and they have wide plastic faces on them that won't damage the hoses. Woody, you beat me to posting this as we just did this last night as well on another members car but a write up will be on short order this evening after we get all the hose lengths measured and some nice photos showing where everything goes.

Well let me up the ante and raise you one photo.

Ill do the write up in a bit but you showed you hand and I wanted to show that Iam not bluffing.

The big issue that had me looking for an hour or so is where to locate everything to get the best servicability of the regulator. Ill be taking it apart a few times before I settle on the correct size dump orfice, SOOOOOOOOOOOOO I wanted to not have to fight the location while doing testing.
Also wanted to see the gauge and get to the adjustment, which I started at 65#.

This is on the rear of the vapor collection tank. Before some know not hypocephalic gets going, the wire ties are to hold it while the sealent hardens, and yess it is plenty solid with 3 square inches of surface area. Epoxy pops off and delaminates too easisly on glass filled plastic surfaces.

DONT KNOW IT THAT IS RIGHT CAUSE ITS RAINING BUCKETS............*#@%**&+/

Woody

Mounting of my WALBRO style pump/filter/regulator /gauge
Testing of previous fuel mod, traction limited

they make radiator hose vice grips, basically two big vice grips with flat steel rounded pads for clamping off hoses.

I use them for anything involving coolant or fuel. makes things so much easier and cleaner

Oh, the other concern I have is you might have just shifted your fueling problem to the rich side. A walbro external 255 flows more than enough fuel for an srt6 motor with a stock regulator. Im wondering what the extra fuel from the pump would do with a stock reg.
