Default Engine Light Keeps Coming On

Hey guys I wanted to know how do I get the engine light from coming on. It goes off for about 2 to 3 days and then stays on for the next 4 days. I took it to the chrysler dealership but they really cant give me a straight forward answer on why it is doing that. It is starting to become a big pain in the as*. I have to take down to them and leave it there over night. Does anyone know what the problem is. thanks

Hi,
The simplest problem is a fuel tap, if you over tighten it when you fill up it will come on, try opening the cap and re fitting, it may solve your problem... by the way there is a note about it on the cap.

This has worked for me in the past...disconnect battery and wait 5 minutes then reconnect you will lose radio presets but if it is a code for the fuel cap it should store it in the computer and shut light off for good. Next time you go to get service done have them check codes and reset. Hope this helps ...it worked for me. If it comes back on then you have a sensor problem. Have a good day.

More than likely its either the fuel cap is to tight or slightly loose, if you disconnect the battery you will lose all codes stored.

True, but the light will go out and if it is just the fuel filler cap, no big deal and you are not wasting time in the dealer for a 2 minute check and a 2 hour explanation.
