Question Meguiar's v.s. Griot's

Has anyone used both Meguiar's NXT wax and Speed Detailer and Griot's Best of Show wax and Speed Shine? How do they compare? Which do you like better?

I've been using Meguiar's NXT products since they came out a little over a year ago. They are pretty good and I am happy with them. I have never tried Griot's stuff and I was wondering what people who have used Meguiar's thought about Griot's before I spend the $$$ to try them out.

Thanks for the inputs.

Griot's. The shine seems a bit deeper with Griot's, more importantly it (the shine) seems to last much longer.

However the wax is not as easy to apply as NXT. The speed shine is as easy to apply as any quick detailer.

I used to be an avid user of Mequiars and now have switched to Griots, so I can speak to this. First off the Griots is easy to apply, both in application and removal. I use Griots "Best of Show" which is carnauba (23% content), Griots Carnauba Wax which is a hard paste (33% content) and also their new Paint Sealant which is synthetic. I can say this for sure, the Paint Sealant is VERY easy to apply/remove, just like the NXT is. I love the NXT, everything about it, but I've just switched to Griots in the past 1 1/2 years. Everything I've used from Griots is awesome and if you have any questions about anything else in particular, drop me a PM. BTW, the Speedshine is very comparable to Quick Detailer but with Speed Shine, you can buy it in bulk and that saves you money. BTW, if you buy the Speed Shine in the gallon size, make sure you buy the gallon pump head, its makes filling up the bottles alot easier

Jeffro, thanks for your reply. You said a deeper shine that last longer but goes and comes off a little harder. That makes sense.

Aero Blue, and thanks for your reply. It seems as if you are the only person here that has used both products. I thought more people would have used both Meguiar's and Griot's but I must of guessed wrong.

One thing, you didn't really state which is better or if there is any noticeable difference in the two products other to say Griot's was awesome and the money you can save by ordering in bulk. Can you tell a difference in the depth of shine or the durability? I like the Meguiar's NXT because of how easy it goes on and comes off but I don't think it last all that long.

Come on people how about some more inputs. It's hard to believe that only one person on this forum has used both products. Are there anymore opinions out there on this subject before I spend the $$$ to try Griot's? (My wife is getting tired of looking at my wax/polish collection (and $$$ spent in my search for the perfect shine).

Thanks

I went all Griot's awhile ago, but am coming back. Most of the products do only an average job (except for the excellent wheel cleaner) but are very expensive.

For a dealer-like shine, try 3M's Hand Glaze, which is only available at auto body supply outlets.

Have fun!

I agree with anauditor... use the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze and then the NXT wax and you will be good to go. I am very...I mean very **** about the cleanliness of my Roadster Limited. My car has been in many shows and parked near cars that where detailed with Groits and people could not tell the difference. Some have also said, that the shine and depth of color on my car was better, take a look at my gallery.

IMO Griots isn't all that expensive when it comes to wax. Their best of show is $20.00 for 16 oz and Mequiars NXT is about $15.00. NXT is said to have some mild cleaners in it, so that's something to keep in mind. I like NXT because of its ease of use, but it only lasts a short time and thats ok because you can wax your car once a month (if you have to wait that long!) and it doesn't take alot of work. Personally, I've switched to Klasse All in One and Sealant Glaze and can honestly say its the best products I've ever used. Follow it up with a quality carnauba for that depth and your all set. Since price seems to keep coming up I'm not going to suggest that the "average car guy" goes out and gets the Pinnacle "Souveran" at $70.00 a can, but if you've got a black car, THIS IS THE ONE TO GET, PERIOD!
