Exclamation Trunk Lights

My trunk lights aren't working, anyone know what fuse number leads to it?

Not sure on the fuse number, but I'd bet it's the bulb itself. Mine blew once and I replaced it...it's been fine since. It's a tubular bulb with a very small filament so it's not uncommon to blow one.

I took the bulb in to Auto Zone he applied power to it and it lit up.

By chance does the car need to be on for them to work?

No, the car doesn't need to be on. Do you have a coupe or roadster?

The cargo light will come on when the dome lights are on. IE open a door or the hatch and all 3 bulbs will come on. The "trunk" light is a 44mm feston bulb, The dome lights (2) are 194's. I think the dome and cargo lights are on the same fuse as they all come on at the same time. Hope this helps.

Ok, if you have a coupe, the light on the left side of the cargo area/trunk should illuminate when the liftgate is open or when you press the button for the overhead light (by the rear view mirror). If you press the button and it comes on, then the liftgate switch could be bad. If it does not illuminate, and the bulb is definitely good, then a fuse might be blown. However, I believe that light is on the same fuse as the overhead interior lights.

Mystery solved!

Blacklimitedcoupe mentioned the left side should light up.

I thought it odd since there are two lights.

When the trunk was open I was looking at the license plate lights rather than a trunk light.

2004 Crossfire $17,000.

New light bulb $3.

Looking stupid in the Forum Priceless!

Just to fill you in. The manual says 44mm festoon but it is too long it is 36mm. measure your before you order them if you cant match it up at the local store.
I have some 44mm xenon festoons If you guys dint believe me.

I don't know about my glove box as I have not changed that one but my cargo light is a 44mm. Are you talking about the two lic plate lights being 36mm ?

Now I am questioning myself...
I do know I ordered 44's and they were too long for everything. Maybe the ones I got are longer than 44?
I know there are two sizes for our car.
I will measure them and report back.

I just replaced one of my license plate lights. I believe it's a 36mm Festoon bulb. But I'd have to measure it.

I would NOT recommend putting a halogen in this spot as the bulbs are actually mounted in the plastic lens 'ears' and then two screws hold it and the lens in the socket.

I would do bright white (2 or more) LED Festoon bulbs from SuperLumination

I'll probably change all my regular bulbs to LED lights soon. I have purple (UV) lights in my trunk area and dome lights.
