factory nav install question
Hi,
I'm trying to install a factory nav radio into my wife's 2005 limited. I already purchased the head unit on ebay and it came with nothing else. I purchased the disks and need to purchase the GPS antenna from a dealer. I have read ALL the posts on how to do this, but I need more specifics.
I assume the GPS antenna just plugs in to the back of the radio...I have read posts that recommend it be mounted inside the dash compartment by accessing the right side airbag panel...is this correct?
I have read that in addition to the standard radio plug ins that 1) wheel speed sensor and 2) reverse wires need to be hooked up. Can anyone explain in detail how this is done? Is there a wire there that is bundled? or do I have to actually run a wire or wires.
Honestly, I'm a dolt when it comes to this...so can you be REALLY basic. Do I splice? If so, how and where?
Finally, How do I connect these new wires to the radio itself? I've accessed the amp in the footwell and all I see are bundles of wires and none of them seem to correspond with the speed sensor (green with white trace) color.
Lastly, where do I find the reverse wire? and how do I connect it to the radio?
If anyone can help with this I'd be very grateful.
Thanks,
Cliff

The wire at the amp is a lite green with a white tracer, just spice into it, the book calls it a dark green it isn't. And as you look down at the amp the wire is to the left side of the connector. As far as the nav unit connection i didn't have any luck finding a stock wire terminal, i did find a small female spade connector and drill out the harness connector for the nav unit, so it would fit through. And lastly don't worry about the rev wire is not really needed unless you need to have navigation in rev. mine works fine with out it.
