Default Strange electronic noise from the center dash?

I purchased an '06 Limited Roadster a few weeks ago. I have noticed that when I drive for maybe an hour or so, I hear an intermittent noise eliminating from the center dash area. The stereo was not on at the time so I wonder if it was something in the AC? The sound is an electronic "buzz" in the pattern of "badada badada badada." Anybody else heard this strange noise and figure out what is causing it? Thanks.

If you have Cingular cell phone service, there will be some weird feedback noises that I experienced now and then. I have since switched to Verizon and no more odd noise.

This is my guess and other phone companies may have this issue.

Hmmm. It's a thought. My cell service is Alltel but my wife has AT&T/Cingular and she was riding with me on a weekend trip when I heard this. I've not heard it as I go to and from work, lunch or errands about town by myself. Something that we can easily invesitgate. Thanks for the tip.

I asked the same question you asked in your original post and had several people comment on the cell phone feedback. It didn't happen all the time, but there is definitely some feedback associated with the type of cell phone in use or simply if it's in the car.

I am more than certain that's what you're hearing. I have a post somewhere on here about this and if you do a search, you will read what others had to say.

Good luck!

The description certainly sounds like it. I did try to search before I asked but I didn't find these postings. Thanks again for the help.

The oem amplifier (under the passenger floorboard) actually stays on even without the radio being on, so it can still pickup any stray interference from cell phones and the like where it can be heard through the speakers.

All Cell phones and Blackberry type devices will cause this interference sometimes. They don't have to be cingular.

Not all cell phones... it's the phones that are GSM that cause this interference.

Once again the forum clears up another unusual thing.
I had just noticed a funny sound coming from what I thought was the stereo but it actually was my cell phone which I had sitting in the ashtray. Well at least I found a use for my ashtray as I don't smoke nor will anyone else while inside my car.

Here's another insight...

I have heard the same thing twice in my car. Both times I caught a glimpse of where the noise was coming from. Both times I heard it the tiny little red light in the "snowflake" AC Button was flickering along in sequence with the sound. Next time you hear it, pay attention to that light. I have a Verizon phone, so I don't know if it could cause this or not. Before reading this. I attributed the problem to be related to my AC Fan speed switch problem.

I meant it's not specific to one carrier. BTW, 3G does it too.
