Default Help!! ACC Switch not working?!

So I installed my aftermarket headunit around 1/2 year ago - maybe even longer, and everything has been working fine. Yesterday I pull into a mcdonalds parking lot and my headunit + drive and play (ipod) power goes out.

I'm stumbled, it seems when I connect anything to just the direct power source it works fine. But when I connect it to the switched power source (when the car turns on) nothing works.

I also put back my stock headunit and the same thing, I started my car and it did not turn on , I had to push the power button for it to turn on.

I checked the fuse box and as far as I know all the fuses looked fine to me (unless there is more then one box?! There were only like ~ 7 fuses in there)...

This really sucks, i'm not sure what could've caused this or whatnot, but having to turn off my radio / drive+play every time I turn off my car, and vice versa isn't ideal for me.

Any suggestions, please!?

Cool Re: Help!! ACC Switch not working?!

There are 2 fuse panels, one under the hood and one on the driver side on the side of the dash. Take a look at the owners manual to find out what fuses are where.

Thanks a lot! I replaced the fuse and it worked perfect.

I'm confused as to why it would now decide to blow - after such a long time of working fine..

Sometimes fuses can do that after prolonged exposure to motion/vibration. That's one of the reasons aircraft have circuit breakers instead of fuses. I'd say don't worry about it. Now, if the fuse blows again, I'd say you might have a problem. Time to break out the wiring diagram and the ammeter and start looking around...

Did you add of change any wiring, or was it pretty much a plug-and-play unit using all the existing wiring?

I didn't change anything, I used the supplied harness, hooked up all the wires, and it worked fine.

Just after all this time it decided to break... hrm.

Maybe the vibration did it or something.

Just curious...a lot of times people will install new items that require wires to be added or re-routed. If they have to pass through any metal items, they won't use a grommet. Many times this leads to their problems.
