Default G-Tech pro RR

Just checked with UPS...my new G-Tech RR is scheduled to be here tomorrow. Any other members have one of these. If so...where did you mount it, how do you like it, have you tested it's accuracy?

I'm all giddy...

How much did you pay for it?

I think Steve Hellums mounted his up above the steering column cover, said it was out of the way of the gauges and looked good, but I didn't see pics.

I've been thinking about getting one..

It was about $360 with next day and saturday delivery.

I was thinking about mounting it next to the drivers side A-Pillar. That spot is somewhat out of the way. I really can't see using the "hard mount" and drilling any holes in my baby!

If you go to the website and go to "support"...you can download a bunch of manuals including the user manual. It looks to be pretty sweet!

I'll be sure to post all my findings when it's up and running. (and I further destroy a set of Conti's)!!!

Here ya go - look at page 4 of this thread if it doesn't take you there already.

Steve posted pics. It's a temp-mount, but the wire is pretty well hidden when not in use.

Well, the preliminary results are in...

First off, this thing has a giant suction cup to attach it to the window...this thing holds on really well. I wish my radar detector had a mount as solid as the g-tech.

There's 2 things I don't like though. The buttons, especially the large directional button feel kind of cheap. I don't think they are going to break mind you...it's just a "feel" thing. My other issue is with the display. The only adjustment is for contrast, and there's not a lot of adjustment to that. There's no brightness adjustment. At night it's very readable and not too bright. During the day is another matter, it's a little hard to see clearly, and if you're driving with the sun in your face you can forget it.

This thing has the ability to show a tachometer that it runs off of your cigarette lighter somehow. I was skeptical at first, but after a little adjusting it works amazingly well. A few high rev runs and the bright shift LED's worked really well. There's 4 LED's that light up sequentially starting about 500 rpm from redline. I haven't had a chance to do a full quarter mile run yet...but the little bit of messing around I did do left me reasonably impressed with the unit.

For anyone thinking of picking up one of these things, I highly recommend the RR unit. It has the road race mode and a software program for your computer that works really well.

In just the short time I had today to play with it I've been pretty impressed. No buyers remorse whatsoever. I'll post more when I have a little more experience with it under my belt!
