Question What is this problem?

I have an '05 Crossfire Coupe Limited with a 6 speed manual transmission. 7500 miles on the car. Recently, after I start up I hear what sounds like a computer ticking away coming from the glove box or behind it. After a few minutes the niusr stops. Sometimes it starts up again when I pull into my garage and I am about to turn off the engine. Does anyone know what this problem is? I plan to take it to the dealer for service under the factory warranty but I am not too sure the dealer won't make it worse rather than fixing it. If you could lend a hand and give me some input, I would appreciate it before I take the car to the dealer for service. Thank you. Bobbyjeff from Texas

where in texas are you located? i can recommend a good dealer for service if you arein the houston area. honestly i think finding a good dealer would be the best idea. especially since you are still under warranty.

Have you taken out the cabin air filter and cleaned it - it may be something as simple as a leaf etc?

Its not the cabin airfilter, been there done that. Its exactly what bobbyjeff is describing and its random. Since nothing seems to be affected by it I haven't done anything about. If you do happen top find out what it is please let me now. I too thought it was the cabin airfilter because it sits right where the noise is coming from but mine was clean, like new.
I have horror thoughts of them tearing out the dash only to tell me they couldn't duplicate the problem. By the way bobbyjeff I have the same car.

Thanks for your input. It is random have not heard it for a few days. Now that I mentioned it, it nwill probably start again. I did check the cabin air filter. Very clean. I will wait before taking it to a dealer since nothing seems to be effected by it. I have a while to go on the factory warranty. By the way, Zahanma, I live in the Dallas area so your dealer would be too far for me to use. Thanks.

Just last Thursday I heard a loud ticking noise from what I thought was the glove box area & immediately thought about this & several similar threads. Turns out it was the CD player! It happened 3 times that day & I thought for sure, a trip to the dealership was on the horizon. I managed to catch it soon enough on the last group of ticks & sure enough, CD. Remove & reinstall the CD, turn the player off & on again & no problems since.
Weird............

Belay that idea, Bobbyjeff; the CD player is now toast. The ticking started again this weekend & now it's to the point where you have to jump through hoops just to be able to eject the CD. Radio is hunky-dory, just the CD player is unhappy.
The CD will meet the local Chrysler dealer on Wednesday. I'll let you know how it goes (should be a snap, hopefully).
