Default Amp Installations

I am going to have some amps installed in my car soon, but had a few questions for those who may have had this done before. 2 amps-Zapco 350 watt for sub (base coupe I have no rear speakers) and Zapco 200 watt for fronts. I want to run the biggest guage wire as possible to try to avoid dimming lights. 0/1 kicker or 2 guage JL Audio. My question is where to run the cable and amp placement. Through the firewall or under the car for wiring and in front of the trunk or behind the trunk for the amps. Can you get wires through to the trunk portion from the front of the cab? Also, the 6.5" in the limiteds in the rear portion does anyone know the mounting depth? I may end up running some 6.5" subs if the 12" subs are to loud and don't blend well.

There is actually a hole right behind the battery tray in the firewall that will allow you to run your power wire through. You have to remove the battery and I believe the tray it sits on if I remember correctly. You can't miss it once they are out of the way. It makes running power wire very easy. I had my amps in the hatch area, due to the seat movement. I wanted them behind the seat, but most amps are too big and limit the amount of seat travel. The mounting depth of the 6" subs is pretty shallow, I looked all over and actually had some of the JL Audio 6.5" subs laying around but they would not fit. You are better off going with a sub enclosure in the hatch area. It would be cool to build a false floor using some of the new JL Audio shallow mount subs....the are only 2.5" in depth!

Good Luck with your system!

Thanks. I have a Orion HCCA 12" enclosure from the early 90's but it takes up the entire hatch area. It maybe too much so I may just go with a sealed 8" focal or MB Quart woofer.

I actually forgot how many sub enclosures I ran through in my base coupe...I decided to post a few pictures and walk down memory lane a bit....I miss that car, but I sure love my SRT6!!!

First set up...JL AUDIO 8W6 powered by an old school Precision Power Pro Mos 25

Second set up was just for fun...3 JL AUDIO 6w0 6.5" subs in a slot ported enclosure...that baby would rock! Powered by a Phoneix Gold ZX500.4

Third and Forth are the same box...differnet subs. RE AUDIO SE10 and a Focal 11" Sub Powered by a Phoneix Gold ZX500.4

The JL 6W0's and the RE AUDIO 10" sounded by far the best!

my .02

No...sold them all some time ago. The last one was made by a guy that sells them on ebay. Their web site is http://www.wickedcas.com/gallery/main.php/v/magicboxes/. They sell them with or without subs. He has a great package deal for the box and a 10W7!
