Ok, Alpine's site says that the iDA-X100M will be available in the Spring. It's Summer now...

 

My neighbor picked mine up on the 20th.
He left it at his shop because he won't see me til next weekend.
But on Monday when he goes back to his shop he will open the box and see what it looks like...I will try and get on this site when he tells me monday but for sure I will be on here saturday.

Infact maybe I will call Gary and he can post it here for me?

I'm hearing the Marine version has an off white trim ring, not silver. Hope that's not rue for those of you who have waited. As of last week Crutchfield told me at least mid July on the Marine version of both.

As long as the "face" is silver, painting the trim ring will be an easy fix.

 

Where did you order your X100M? I haven't seen it *In Stock * anywhere.

The PDF manual for the x100m is up on Alpine's site now. Hopefully it will actually be available soon.

 

RIOT, so you've had the x100m for around two weeks. How is the actual color compared to what you thought it would look like? ABT still doesn't show it in stock...

 

Well I was F#$%^D by Alpine and ABT....

They said shipped and they said come and pick it up....well guess what my buddy goes to pick it up and no luck...then I was sent an e-mail apoligizing and asking if I want full refund...model has now been pushed out to late August!
Needless to say I have my money back.
Screw it now on to something else.........now I will wait until the next model after this one and buy it when its on clearance if it looks good!
I was gonna put it in the boat if it didn't match right....now I am looking for something else for both!

OK here's some good news for all that have been waiting. I didn't and got an Alpine ida X-001. Its not due to be installed for another week however my son goes and gets the identical unit for his car. Guess what, silver trim ring! Its a bit darker but it looks like it will look fine. Good new is these units are 269 at Crutchfield and I think I even saw them for 249 at Tweeters.

Are you talking about the old, bug ridden model (iDA-X001)?

 

Bug ridden? Sorry no bugs I've seen. The ratings I've read have all been favorable on the unit. It was a gift from my daughter. Do you like trashing other people's gifts? Do you get pleasure out of that? Go back to your island where you are obviously the expert.

Well, looks like I hit a nerve there. Look "Pat", I wasn't personally attacking you or your daughter. You're obviously a very sensitive person.

My statements are from personal experience with the iDA-X001. I have owned one of these units since mid 2007 and have found it to be buggy compared to the X100. Just take a look around. Visit other forums and see what others think of it, but hey if you're fine with the X001's performance then good for you.

Perhaps I should have edited my previous comment. There are some "bugs", but most of my problems with the X001 are with some of its "features".

Like:

- Takes a number of buttons presses to select your radio presets
- It scrolls the song title but not the artist or the album names
- Interface lags / slow to respond when navigating the iPod.
- Pressing the any button a number of times (like pressing the forward / next track button to go through tracks) always caused my 1st gen Nano, 30GB iPod video, 3rd gen Nano to reset or freeze
- The center dial button is only used for the search feature. They should have made it the "Enter" button
- Fonts are too big and scroll too slowly

There are other things, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

 

Yeah I am a bit sensitive when some trashes my stuff. The facts you mention are things you personally don't like. I used the unit in my son's car and found it to be fine for my use. To me a "bug" means the unit has an operating problem. The items you list are functional items you'd like to see in the unit.
I researched the unit prior to my daughter purchasing it, for the money it fit my bill. If the unit was not working, it didn't do what it was supposed to the I'd say yes it has bugs but your wish list isn't bugs. I don't expect it to do the same thing the 349 and 399$ units do. We had a budget and we researched and that's what we came up with.
You are right about your wording. try being a little more "sensitive" in your response and I might be a little nicer in my reply.

As I mentioned in my previous reply, my problems with the X001 are mostly with its features and lack of a more refined interface. Many other people have the same problems with the unit, hence Alpine releasing the X100 and implementing features / refinements that people asked for after using the X001.

The internet isn't the place for you if you get so easily riled up. I'm surprised you even visit message boards with that attitude you have there.

I think I can handle the internet, your response was nasty.
That said let me ask you a question, What interface cable were you using with the unit? If you had the USB cable everything you state is true. I got a high speed I-Pod cable with mine and it scrolls just as fast as my I-Pod, has the same search features, does show the song, artist, album, composer whatever.
As for the center dial I agree with you 100%, the enter button should be on the dial but for my purposes the unit is fine, especially as a gift and its lots better than what was in there.
