Default Strange Fog Lamp Issue

All,

Yesterday I was washing the xfire and came back from a water runoff.

I had turned on the fog lamps and had stopped the car, got out and noticed they were still on. I turned them off without getting in.

When I looked at the passanger side all the running lights and fog lamp except for the headlights were still on. The drivers side was off.

Thought it was strange, and began waxing. Kept waiting for them to turn off. I finally turned on the fog lamps again / then off, all turned off at that point.

Strange behaviour, such stuff concerns me as it's electrical and those issues are tough to track down.

Could you have placed the light switch in the "parking" position (turned counter-clockwise from "off")? That would turn the lights on either on the right or left side independently. One click left and two clicks right, I think.

I don't know and did not know you could turn on the parking lights independent of each other. If this can be done then I see how it could have happened. I turned the lights off from outside the car at a funny angle.

Not sure why a car would have the ability to turn on parking lights one side of the other. Kinda neat....

It's a European thing. If you pull over to the curb, you can turn on just the "street" side lamps. Check it out!

That's news to me. Hopefully, the only time I will need it is to talk on the cell phone at night! Thanks!

You are right, you can put the left or right parking lights on.

I wonder how many knew about this feature

Live and learn.....

I'm pretty sure this is the same problem I have been having! I can't test it out to see for sure until I get off work, but it sounds exactly like the problem I am having, so let's hope it's that simple! They really should tell you these things when you buy the car haha. I had no idea at all.

They also evidently do a good deal of double-parking in Germany and you leave the "out side" parking lights on. Look carefully at the switch and there are arrows to show which side is turned on.
