Default Visor mount navigation

Has anyone tried to mount a portable gps on the sun visor?
I'm loking for a discrete location that is easy to see and reach.

loking for any experience with this setup.
Was it distracting, too hard to see.

I was alos thinking if having it installed above the visior so that with the visor up its covered.

btw I have the sony 4.7 nav-u so its aboyt 1 inch thick

I used a beanbag mount that sets on the dash for my Garmin 660. It was inexpensive and very stable. i don't worry about it falling off and I move it to whatever car we are using and even lend it to friends and family. In the Crossfire it does not block my view through the windshield at all. Since I could not get a "built in" look with a portable, I decided to go with the easiest to move in and out.

I think you will find that if you put it on the visor it might be OK when it is flipped out of the way. But if you expect to flip the visor down to use it you will find very little visibility out the windshield.

Here's what I did with my considerably larger hand-held GPS.
