Red face Help with audio system for 2005 Roadster

I just joined the Xfire fraternity. I purchased a 2005 Base Roadster with only 20,000 miles and I love it.

I would like to upgrade the base stereo system a wee bit. I know many here have already been down that road and was hoping for some advice.

I want to keep the stock head unit. I like the way it looks, that's the reason. I will be watching eBay for a stock nav head unit, but that's the only change I would consider in that department.

I want to upgrade the components in the doors and add something for a bit of bass. I have owned Infinity Kappa and Perfect components and subs in the past and have always been very pleased.

So... Can anyone recommend a component set for the doors that will fit for certain and a small sub that I can put in the opening behind one of the seats? And where can I hide a small amp for the components and sub? Do I need some sort of converter for the head unit? I believe I read it only has speaker level outputs?

Has anyone else upgraded just the speakers in a base roadster and would be willing to share pictures/advice?

Thanks!!

Crutchfield is having a sale right now on Infinity Reference and Subs.

I don't know, but this might include the component speakers (what you need for the doors).
I was thinking of replacing the 6.5" in the doors with 2 or 3 way Infinitys but after I replaced the head unit, it sounds so much better I decided to keep what I have!

The speakers in the doors are of a decent quality. I think to really upgrade your sound system, you might want to think about maybe adding an amplified sub. I think that the Kenwood KSC-SW10

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...KSCSW10&tp=114

might fit under the passenger seat of a Base xFire.

Other than that, upgrading to Infinity Kappa 60.7cs or Infinity Reference 6020cs (both on sale) would be a good choice.

Or just replacing the 6.5" with maybe a Infinity Kappa 63.7i would work too.

Every once in awhile, the subs for behind the seats show up on eBay. LKQ re-sells alot of xFire parts-contact them?

As far as I know the wires are in place-just no speakers. You'll have to check

I don't work for infinity, I just have a good past with them.

You have a few choices, good luck!

So exactly what is the difference between the Infinity system and the bass stereo?

Does my base model roadster already have the factory amp?

If I upgrade to the infinity head unit and upgrade the components in the doors and purchase the two speakers for behind the seats, will I have the complete infinity system?

I guess what I am asking, is does the amp and wiring exist in the base model?

Base model does not have the following:

- Does not have an Amp ... nor the wiring
- Does not have the 6.5" subs behind the seats
- Door speakers aren't as good as the Limited speakers

I replaced the entire audio system

- A Kenwood head unit
- A Blaupunct Amp
- Polk Component speakers for the doors

The reason I didn't replace the base stereo with the stereo from the limited models is that I wanted additional functionality such as ipod and bluetooth. I believe that I also saved money because everything that I purchased was on sale.
