Default New Stereo Setup

I thought I would post up a few shots of my new sub enclosure and amp rack. The photos are from the test fit so no wiring has been ran to the subs or amp, I also want to do a little trimming on the plexiglass amp rack so that no plexi shows. I just bought the enclosure from a fellow forum member, I could not have made it myself for less and love the way it looks in person. I am running 2 10” Resonant Engineering Subs, with the Diamond D7 series amp. This should give the subs a little over 300 watts each. I am changing the factory head unit to the Alpine IDA-X001 ipod controller and leaving the factory Infinity amp to push the 6.5” Subs and Door Speakers. I put a cap on the door speakers to cut the bass down a bit and they sound ten times better than they did. It should all be wrapped up next week. I let you know how it sounds…

That rocks! Literally! I look forward to seeing it in person and hearing it.

Pretty cool !!!
Be sure to have cargo cover or a black out window tint on the back.
Ya don't want anyone looking in and seeing that when the car is parked.

This looks awesome! I have been wanting to do something in the back since I've gotten the car. I have a question that hopefully can be answered real quick. What kind of sound differences do you hear with a box like this where the head of the sub is facing in opposed to a classic setup such as Nazar's enclosure?

There is no difference in sound but rather you change the inside volume of the box so that it is closer to the recommended manufacturer specs. Some people will compensate for volume in the cone(the part of the speaker you usually see) since it is a dish and face them face them so you can see the magnet, basket and spider assembly. Usually you only do this when they have fancy cast baskets as the stamped steel ones almost always look hideous. It's just another way to be unique. One thing to remember when you do it this way is you need to run them out of phase as you want the speaker to be linear with all the other ones so that when the voice coil is pulling the rest of the speakers in, you want it to be pushing the subs out so the way the sound waves inside the enclosure react will be the same as the rest of the speakers in your car. Some people (read: high-school kids with crappy equipment) can not tell if a speaker is out of phase or not but if you have a good ear, it's easily noticeable.

rcompart is correct. No differecence in sound. I have actually owned the “Nazar” box and it sounded great. Below are a few of the different set ups I ran in my other Crossfire before I bought the SRT6. A JL 8W7, one of the RE Audio 10" that is in the current set up, a Focal 11" sub mounted to show off that awesome magnet, and finally 3 JL Audio 6w0's in a fiberglass plate mounted in a slot ported enclosure....

And most recently, I went from this...

to this.... Not quite as flashy, but it sure does hammer. These JL 13.5" shallow mount subs are amazing!

Some people have all the toys - killer wheels, amps, subs. I bet it sounds as good as it looks. Really nice job -one fun ride.

As always BLKFIN, looks amazing. Mine is finally coming together as well, I have the amp out at paint right now, but with those 2 12's, it is too loud . Starting construction on the single 12" fiberglass box so I can fit the NOS bottle back there as well

$900 is for the box and amp rack. It will not come with amps or subs.

You know, between your enclosure and amp rack and our center console, someone would be into an almost turn-key show level stereo/interior setup for under $2500. I still can't believe you have this thing. Figured it would have been gone long ago.

Is it made just for 8's or can you go bigger? How deep is it? Looking at the JL Audio W7 10 or 12 if not would get the 8's ran off JL 1000/1

The airspace is too small for anything larger than an 8". Thats why the 10's I had in it just did not sound right. The JL 8W7 will not fit either way you mount it, it is just too tall. . I ran the 8w6s in it and actually like the new Kicker Solo 8" that just came out. They would fit fine and handle a ton of power. If you would like, PM me your phone number and I will call you to discuss.
