Default Amp and Cap install question.

If I am installing a Cap and an Amp. Do I use one lead from the battery and go through the Cap to the Amp or do I need 2 different sources? Another words do I have to hook up both the Amp and Cap directly to the battery or does the Amp always draw power through the Cap. Sorry never had a Cap or seperate Amp on a car stereo before.

Low wattage set-up. 400 watt amp, 300 watt sub and 1/2 Farad Cap.

You want to connect the amplifier ground to the chassis adn the positive wire from that should connect to the (+) side of the cap. You also connect teh (+) ofthe cap to the (+) terminial of the battery and the (-) side to the chassis. If it's easier, You can just connect the ground from the amplifier the the (-) side of the cap. Here is a diagram that should help explain.
