Default iPhone question...

So, I have a 3G iPhone. Is it possible to hook this sucker up directly (no FM transmitter) to my radio? I hate the staticky sound of the FM tuners. I do NOT have the Nav unit, just regular radio.

No way to hook it up to our stock stereo. You would have to use an antenna type modulator box with 2 European antenna adaptors for the most direct connection.
And if you are thinking of getting an aftermarket stereo, even the iPod ready stereos, will not work with the new 3G. Being the impulse buyer that I am I jumped at the new iPhone and didn't explore anything else.
Well it seems the stereos will allow you to play music and use the iPod controls BUT when it is connected the 3G goes into "airplane mode" and you will not receive any calls. No way around it. So, buy an old version iPhone and it will work with the aftermarket stereo but not the 3G.

Or you could get a headphone to stero plug and plug in the back of a aftermarket stereo and control the music from your iphone

Most of the newer "media center" head units do not even have an old fashioned AUX port in the back. Everything is going to USB connections or specialized adaptors for the specific brand unit. Like an 8-pin connector or along those lines. It's very frustrating.
Also keep in mind the "high speed" iPod connections on most decks are for older iPods and can't be used for the newest generations. Be very careful and ivestigate every option when considering your purchase. Don't buy from a place that can't demo all the options you will be using.

Well, I'm sure you guys are right but that blows. I just bought the 3G because my old phone crapped out - didn't even think I would have problems hooking up the output of the phone to the Xfire stereo.

Thanks for the information. - guess I'll just have to use the ear buds
