Tweeters in Defroster Holes
Has anyone attempted to install tweeters in the dash defroster vent holes that blow on the side windows?
Those holes appear to be about 2" in diameter and up high, where some nice quality tweeters might make a difference in imaging and volume with the top down.

2004's and 2005 and up limiteds do, base coupes and special edition crossfires do not.
Anyways, mounting a speaker where your defroster is supposed to be really isn't probably the best idea ??
Ya, my 2006 base roadster has the tweets in the door. I'm looking to get more sound up higher around my ears while the top is down so I want to add more speakers on the dash or A pillars some place. The holes for the defroster vents are already there and perhaps only need to be opened up a bit. I'd rather do this before cutting into someplace else on the dash.
As for the defrosters, don't really need them as I live in Houston. The main vents clear up the entire cabin fairly quickly on the worst days.

I have an 04 coupe, with tweets in the door. Do I have a base model, or limited. There isn't anything marked anywhere about it being a limited though. If you already have them in the door, I might suggest an aftermarket headunit, and a componet set. Would it be very easy to run wires up there? I guess if you have access to the defroster tubes, it might not be that bad. I would definately do some more research. kinda sounds like a headache to run. where are you going to get your power for the tweeters. maybe we just need to know where your at with your setup. Still stock? chris
Yes, still stock speakers in the doors but I upgraded the head unit.
I'm gonna give the defroster holes a shot and let you guys know how it turns out. Will simply find a nice pair of tweets with inline crossovers and then plug up the defroster tubes. I may even open up the holes a bit for a larger driver.
Years ago I read a post from a sound engineer that worked at Boston Acoustics where he suggested that a speaker mounted in the center of the dash would improve sound staging tremendously. If I recall correctly, you could place two side by side and wire for stereo. Or, place one and wire for mono. I don't like the idea of speakers sitting up in the middle of the dash, so out comes the defroster grills.

So how would you classify an 04? Just curious the property taxes just arrived. I just didn't have nav. thanks, chris
