Default Bought Metra FM modulator. It sucks.

I purchased a Metra FMMOD02 wired FM modulator, a pair of antenna adapters, and wire connectors. Unfortunately, it sounds terrible. The signal is strong with little hiss and decent dynamic range, but turning up the iPod or my laptop caused it to sound overdriven and distorted, and the Infinity radio couldn't be turned up high enough to compensate.

Oh well.

I probably spent a total of $25 on the project. The Delphi modulator I used years ago sounded great. This was not so great.

Glad you only spent 25 bucks. Now do the right thing and go buy a new reciever for your car. The only real way to play your I-Pod in the Crossfire. Unless you have a Navi radio its the only way to get decent sound and control. There are units as low as 150 bucks that will do the trick. I got mine form Crutchfield and they send you everything you need to switch out the stock unit. Quit beating your head against the wall. Pics of my unit in my gallery.

Yeah, I'm going to order a Blaupunkt or Clarion for a quick install and call it done. The Clarions probably have the best sound out of the HUs with standard ISO connectors.

You'll be happy you did. I had a transmitter, paid 25 bucks for it and it was junk. Try and find a unit that controls your I-Pod from the dash so you do have to mess with your I-Pod. I just lock mine in the glovebox and forget about it. the Alpine I have has a removable face plate so for the most part its secure. Good luck!
