Key Fob Failure HELP. Urgent. Stuck 100 miles from home
Hi, I'm new here.
I've scurried round trying to find another thread about this but no joy, so sorry if its been asked before.
I have owned my 4 yr old car for about 2 months. lovely. till just now.
I have been stuck in a retail outlet carpark because the key fob would not unlock the doors. Yes I can use the key to open the door, but the immobiliser and alarm are still active. I have towed the car somewhere safe, but does ANYONE have a suggestion? Even if I can deactivate the alarm for now and immobiliser and drive to a dealership?
I'm absolutely grounded. Very Urgent, 100 miles from home.
NOTE I Have Both Key Fobs. Its not the fob batteries. 100%.

yeah it tries to start, and then dies. I'm guessing its the immobiliser.
I'm gonna nip out and try the pressing the button thing twice. Only problem is neighbours sleeping and alarm will sound! But how would BOTH fobs become deprogrammed while i popped in a retail store?
Is there any way to completely disable the alarm and immobiliser?

Another thing people have done with this problem!

well. techinically all the arming parts of it work fine. i.e. it sounds. it flashes. its imobilised. It maybe seems that the radio receiver element of it is broken. either way its gonna be a main dealer replacement, but how do I disable it to drive the car there?
i did try disconnecting and reconnecting battery earlier. But that just makes the alarm go off and keep going off (alarm backup battery)
I have a years warranty on the car so I'm sure it'll be covered, I just have to be able to disarm the alarm and immobiliser so I can drive it. Risky enough towing it the 3 miles earlier with no PAS, servo brakes etc.

Okay. I've tried the disconnect the battery thing. No joy. Even if you reconnect with doors closed, the alarm reactivates on reconnection. If you disconnect with door open, alarm re-sounds.
The anti tow alarm button is irrelevant in this case because I cannot switch off the normal antitheft alarm. i.e. when I manually open the doors with key, the alarm sounds. Engine starts then dies. There must be a manual override to actually disable the alarm? most of my cars have had a keyturn on the alarm box to disable. But I don't know where the alarm is to even try and see if it has an override.

If it turns over and dies it sound like there's a problem with the security control module. and I don't know if there is a way to bypass it so you can start the car. Did you check fuse 25 and 26 ?
its a bit too dark and noisy to try it now because the alarm will sound trying to get bonnet open. 10pm GMT here. I'll have to try in the morning.
I assume that the reason it starts and stalls is just the immobiliser doing its job? I guess unless you disable alarm you cant disable the immobiliser. I can also ring Chrysler in the morning too, but my experience with mechanics in the past has been quite fruitless with other cars!
I cannot believe this can happen?! Whats the point in having a key AND keyless entry if the key is no use? Surely putting key in ignition should cancel alarm, after all, if you have teh key you can have the car?
What do those two fuses do?

yeah. tried that already earlier. I guess there is something actually totally wrong with the alarm. hopefully the dealership may be able to point me to where I can unplug something or rip something out! I have visions of me running up the road with a handful of wires and a siren going off in my hand.
Thanks to everyone so far for your contributions. Please feel free to offer any other suggestions to try. And if I get a resolution I'll be sure to post it.

fuse 9 was the first thing I tried. Unfortunately causes the alarm to sound, just the same as if you kill the battery. Its a tamper protection where it reverts to teh backup battery in the alarm. Allowing the backup battery to die might solve the siren problem, but doubt it will remobilise. I suppose you gotta remember that these are the first things a car thief would try so it has to be over protected.
not sure. only had the car a couple of months. just managed to move away from the plague of ALFA! GTV.
But to be fair. The alarm and key fobs have worked faultlessly. And I'd just done the 100 mile journey to feed the car battery well. And then just stopped off twice. first place fine. armed, disarmed. Second time... not so great!
