Is It Possible to Swap Sat Nav From One Roadster To Another???
Hello,
My girlfriend is updating her car. Currently she's running an 05 roadster with a factory/dealer fitted sat nav system (runs off a CD inserted into the head unit).
The 07 roadster she's going to buy does not have the sat nav system fitted.
What does the sat nav system comprise of?
I was wondering if the sat nav could be taken out of the 05 car and fitted into the newer car?
Thanks for any replies,

It most certainly can. You will need three things to pull this off. You'll need an antenna adapter because they are different between the Nav and non-Nav radios, you'll need to get the GPS antenna out from behind the dash or buy a new one online or through a forum member on here that work at a dealership and can get us great prices on stuff and you will need to wire in a VSS and reverse wire if they aren't in the harness in the new car. If you need a radio to borrow while you're trading yours in, talk with Maxcichon on here on the forum. He's a really nice guy and may end up letting you use his if you send one back after you're done.
The items you need and installation instructions are shown on the following .pdf file.
The antenna adapter # GRE40EU10.
The last item is an antenna from Germany that works well. But I would remove the one you have, you can see where it is from the instruction sheet.
The two wires that you need require a connector pin on the end that snaps into the connector that plugs into the head unit. PM me if you want these.

GPS-ANTENNE-WICLIC-SONY-PIONEER-JVC-MERCEDES-BECKER (Not working but this is the description)
Splicing the wires to the wires coming from the amplifier will be the hardest job, the actual job is 2 hour max. easy for me to say as bluecoupe did mine. You will of course need the two keys to remove the radio and a trim stick to remove the trim around the radio.
For the record my car is a 2004 and it came completely wired for the navigation unit except for the antenna of course. This was strange as nav was not an option that year, here anyway.

WHY does a Nav unit need vehicle speed and reverse info? It's a FREAKIN Nav unit - the damn thing KNOWS my speed and direction!!!
(Assuming you know... or have at least a theory, 'cause I don't see it.)
