Aux input to amp
So I was thinking about the problem of no aux input on the stock head unit. I thought what if we just hooked the player direct to the amp? The mp3 player (Zune HD in my case) will need a little help to get an acceptable volume in the end result. I would suggest a "AudioControl Overdrive" crutchfield link. This will amplify the output from the mp3 player for the amp. You'll just need to splice into the inputs of the amp. I'm trying to decide how to switch sources, I would love to use relays and a single switch, but multiple switches would work too. I still have around 3 months of bumper to bumper warranty left on my crossfire so I don't plan to dive into this until that runs out. I may decide to just upgrade the head-unit and skip all of the fuss, but the stock unit just looks so nice and clean. I'm open to suggestions or ridicule either way, it was a lot of fun shopping for the parts and thinking about while "working" at work

I simply replaced mine with a Sony about two years ago that has the auxiliary input (and can amplify the aux port as well) and bluetooth for less than $200. I have a Zune HD as well (just got my 64) and it plays very well with the Sony.
