Default Sub install

Alright well i got a real pain in the *** here..... i'm trying to setup a 10" visonik sub, what i planned on doing is wiring it from the passenger side stock "sub" and have that one off since the driver side one is good enough, i moved the rear carpet and everything and saw the passenger side rear speaker kinda tilted away from the hole but i found the wires that hook up to it and unplugged the connector piece and tried to plug in my sub to the same connector coming from the amp (i assume) and of course no sound... there are 4 different wires going into that connector but on my sub theres only a positive and negative hookup so first question is what am i doing wrong? and second question is is there any way to run all 6 speakers plus the additional 10" visonik on the stock head and amp? thanks for the help in advance..

Default Re: Sub install

I hate to say this but that is probably a bad idea. The two stock subs are DVC (dual voice coil) and that is why there are two spade terminals on each of those. They are I believe dual 4 ohm which when run in parallel the amp sees a 2 ohm load for each side for the sub channels. What are the subs coil(s) in ohms? Even this would not be optimal and underpower the sub (most likely) but you might be able to run it off of both channels. The reason that you may have no sound is that since there are 4 connections to each stock 6.5" sub (2 positive and 2 negative), you could have two cancelling each other out as I do not believe they are easy as red and black. This could do damage and heat up the voice coils (blown sub). Tell me whaether the sub is single or dual voice coil and the ohms for the coil(s) and I will be able to help more. The main point is that I would not run it off of just one sub channel.
