Default Backup Camera

Anyone done this? I can't imagine it's too hard, but my concern would be a "reverse" reference that would activate the camera.

My plan is to do a reverse camera off a pop out screen headunit, and 2 side cameras in a rear view mirror. I'm hoping to pull a signal from the turn signal lights that will auto switch the cameras in the rear view mirror. (IE you hit the left turn signal and the left camera turns on)

I have the sponsors to pay for all this, I just need to work out the logistics

you might do some research in the class 8 trucking industries...they are doing this on the big rigs....maybe their technology will help...I like the aftermarket backup cameras that are on the license plate frame...wireless and all....good luck with your project...

Yes, I agree. You might also take a look at motor home backup cameras. I am sure they do a similar thing. Your problem is going to be with the turn signals if you only want the camera on when you backup. If you aren't completely set against aftermarket cams, I might look at a bubble or fish eye cam. Just one idea...

If you wire it up to turn signal it will go in and out.
