Chirping Alarm Siren (lock/unlock)
I found it was much easier and costs next to nothing to follow the instructions here:

It works very well. I think you would be pleased.

Looks like the three wire harness comes right out into the engine bay/firewall area (please correct me if not so). If the three wires are power, ground, and signal then maybe the simple splice can allow two sirens to be present. Would the added circuitry screw up the system to the point the system fails? Will the fuse handle two sirens (original and modified one)? Finally, will the modified one chirp if spliced in with an unmodified (old) one which may be easily located in the engine compartment?
Just looking at my car today - and yes I agree, not wise to chop anything. I reckon it's just as easy to remove the cover and replace the original siren unit with the more up to date version of the siren. There are the 7 screws to release the cover, and of course the wiper arms need to come off. These can be tight and difficult to remove, put a simple and cheap puller can be used to release them if needed.
I have had a little buzzer attached to the flasher relay in the fuse box for a couple years to get the desired bleep bleep bleep when locking. But the right way is to fit the undated siren and I will do this when i get my hands on one

Not to confuse you but:
Although my car already had the siren install (not loud enough), I added the Radioshack piezo as descrbed in this thread by soldering it to the relay pins.It was alot easier than getting under the car and splicing wires where the splices would be subject to the elements. I removed the relay and soldered everything on the bench and then simply re-installed, routed the piezo wires through the rubber slit grommet then double sided taped the buzzer to the outside of the relay box cover. Works great. "Just saying"

Sorry can't help you with the circuitry issue.
I had the new one as a replacement. Use a little of WD40. Where ear plugs when you remove the old siren. It is a safety feature. Mine really blasted. Don't do it early in the AM or your neighbors may get really annoyed.

I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Bite the bullet, buy the new part and install it. No messing or modifying your OEM wiring harness. I changed out a co-workers at lunch time in less than 20 minutes in the parking lot.
