Default Soon to be one of the Best SQ X-fires on the Road

Slowly but surely I am gathering up the pieces to make my Crossfire one of the best sounding ones out there on the road. Last week I picked my new 4 channel amplifier. (Alpine PDX 4.100 tested at 122 watts rms per channel at 4ohm.) All that is left is for me to do is purchase a set of front components, (I'm leaning towards a pair of Boston Acoustic Pro60se's or something in Focal's upper polyglass portfolio.) I have also yet to install any sound deadening material which will also be a must in the near future.

As of now I have the stock Infinity system up front with a Kenwood excelon x993 headunit. In the cargo area sits my Boston Acoustic SPG555 powered by an Alpine PDX 1.1000 in a high tuned ported enclosure. I believe my electrical system will be suffice for the additional amplifier. I just installed an Optima Yellowtop up front and have 2 gauge wire all the back to the kinetic battery and to the amps.

I also have on my hands now the Passive radiator that goes with the SPG555 sub and will have a the current ported enclosure swapped out for a sealed passive setup. The new box will run widthwise from wheel-well to wheel-well with a woofer cone situated at each end facing vertically towards each side. the box will be pushed back as close to the fuel tank as possible with the amp rack.

Use the search function of the forum and type in "SPG555" to see my current setup, if you wish to see what I am working with now and where I want to take it.

I will be sure to keep this thread updated as everything begins to be put together.

Some audiophiles like their music in the living room where it does not intrude on others. I still have my hearing. Gary

Intrude on others? He is building an SQL setup, not meant to rattle cars 50 feet away, but to reproduce music as accurately as possible. To me, intruding on others is when I see a harley go by and you can hear the pipes for 5 blocks, not a pro level audio system in your car.

I can still hear well enough to tune high end home or car stereos and enjoy a nice 7.2 setup at home as well.

My Triumph is car quiet and very quick. 2300cc. not mine but close. I modified mine to rear sets, seating and suspension. gary black srt6 rdst,

I would be more than happy to play around with home audio equipment as well but as you said intruding on others is not a polite thing to do, and that is just exactly what I would be doing if I set up a proper multi-channel home theater in my 400 sqft. Studio Apartment

LOL that is funny. All in time, right? My 2 12" 400 watt home subs could make your entire building shake

Keep at it, I am only 27 and have been fortunate to have a career I love and am now making enough money to enjoy many of the things I have desired over the years. Nothing is better than a good education.

GO PURDUE!!

Keep up the hard work... and as much as possible, pay your tuition fees as you go... no matter how difficult... Earning your degree and not having student loans to repay is the big ticket to your future.....

I apologize for taking so long to update my post. Between the time I originally started this thread and now my Crossfire had been hit and was resting in the body shop for repairs until just yesterday. The damaged from the wreck was primarily on my drivers side door, thus forcing me to cancel my previous install date for the components. Since then I went ahead and purchased the Boston Acoustic Pro60se components instead of the Focals basically because I have had good luck with Boston in the past and scored a deal paying less than the retail $599.
Installation of the 4-channel pdx 4.100 (120 watts RMS 4-ohm per channel) is slated for this Thursday. I have also decided to go ahead with a front and rear channel set-up instead of running each tweeter and component woofer off of a separate channel. (This means I can now fade the volume front to back instead of just side to side. I am curious to see just how long the factory infinity speakers will last back behind the seats with over 100 watts apiece running through them.
I am excited to say the least for the build outcome. I have also purchased 36 sqft of dynamat to seal up the doors and rear hatch area.
The shop owner is the nicest I have had the luck of running into. I am sure he will allow me into the work bay and take a few shots of the install with the panels off to post later onto this thread for your viewing.

For now I will keep the SPG555 in its current ported enclosure. I am yet to decide if I want to spend the money on a new enclosure for the passive radiator.

Original Packaging

These are in fact Component Speakers, Boston also has a bracket so that the tweeters can be mounted co-axial to the woofer, for those with vehicles that do not have oem tweeter mounts.

Do you know where you are going to put the X-overs? Just the door panels or what

The Crossovers ended up being placed into the kick panels.

Thanks for the offer but the sub im running really isnt a 12''. It is an oval measuring about 10"" by 13""

By the way the component set, 4 channel, and dynamat install went great. I would be more than happy to film a video of the car playing a few different genres if any one is interested. I have a decent cam that would record it well enough to give some justice.
