Default Help installing aftermarket stereo

Ive been looking around the forums, drawing diagrams, reading every single post about wiring, trying out what everyone says, but my freaking radio still doesn't work (sorry I'm kinda frustrated I've been at it for about 6 hours straight). I've never installed a radio before, but I'm still thinking that it's just a matter of connecting the + and the - on the right places right?

I've checked Mrphotoman's post linking to a website that gives the wiring diagrams for many car models, but unfortunately, the colors of the wires that they mentioned there arent even on my car.

I also saw the diagram that DFWSBR posted but I couldn't make out which ones were + or -.

I also checked mattpolantz thread on how to install it, but instead of ordering a Scosche VW01B, I went to the local audio systems store and I bought a 70-1784 Turbowire. Too late I realized the pins were in the wrong order, and the store was about 30 mins away, so I decided to take the pins out and take it from there.

So far I've seen that the way the wires on Crossfires are arranged like this:
Brown = Ground
Pink/Yellow/Green = 12v Ignition
Grey/Blue = Radio Lamp (when headlights on)
Blue/Green = Amp on signal
Red/Green = 12v always on

The problem is that when I connect the Ground(Brown), the Ignition(Pink/Yellow/Green), and the Battery(Red/Green), where they are supposed to go, the radio doesnt turn on. However when I connect the Ignition(red) and the battery cable(yellow)on my radio together going to the Battery(red/green) on my car, the radio turns on. But when I try to connect the speakers nothing comes out when the volume goes above 8, I am guessing this has something to do with the factory amp but I'm not sure.

That's as far as I've got and I really want to learn how to do this myself, but I don't know what else to read, or where else to look. And I would really like to get as much info as possible before I start risking it with the wiring. And I would really appreciate anyone that can help this noob out of this ordeal.
