I'm interested in installing a pair of JL W3s. Could you enlighten me or direct me to a post that explains the modifications required? Thanks.

Installed the Kicker CVT654 last night. It is a single voice coil, not a dual like the factory sub and there IS modification required to the two piece plastic basket housing and slightly to the sheet metal in one small area.

How do they sound? do you get great bass response?

I have a Kenwood exelon system and aftermarket amp. The only thing that is stock are the rear speakers.

I blew one OEM rear speaker so I am considering these.

Thanks!

there is literally no bass because the oem amp is wired to push the dual voice coils which drops the ohm load to give more punch. After market subs in 6.5" size are not dual voice coil so there is no way to drop the ohms as in an oem setup (unless you bridge the oem amp but I read that it is not able to handle being bridged) so the aftermarket subs are under powered.

I am waiting to get an aftermarket amp now.

Anyone have the specs on the OEM speakers? Depth, impedance, power rating?

MrMiata brought up that none of the direct fit subs in the list are dual voice coil...here are some that MAY work, no guarantees:

Pyle PLPW6D
Audiopipe 6.5
CDT Audio HD-6MDVC
Bazooka WF641.5DV

Is it possible to have a sticky of speakers that are confirmed to fit behind the seats?

Did you ever put new ones in? I still don't see any conclusive speaker that will fit without modification that sounds good??

This works and has decent bump from the OEM amp.

Dremel work required.

I'm installing a new Kenwood power amp for the subs and replacing my HU.

I caught the price of $18 and immediately thought that covered shipping. Can we really get a better than OEM woofer for that price?

Having both units on my bench at the same time, and evaluating the quality of manufacture, The $18 you scoff at is NOT warranted. The OEM sub is a real POS. Mine were just fine and I sold them on for...too little. He wanted to keep his xF pure. Good for him.

These are tighter, louder (more efficient) and better-built.

Ball is in your court...
