Radio Interference
FM Stations
No intreference whatsoever.
AM Statioms (all)
Engine Running.... lots of interference.
Engine Off...key in the Aux/On position......... no interference, reception crystal clear.
Been this way since buying the XFire w/Nav Sys.... like trying to listen to the Rays game.
Any ideas what may be causing the AM problems?
No intreference whatsoever.

Problem with AM stations remains as previously stated.
Any other ideas that may reslove this?
( not that I have a clue what it might be, but that would be a starting place )
Maybe take a little portable AM radio and search around in the engine compartment for the loudest interference ?
Problems with the ground in the antenna system can cause this. This can be in the connector at the radio end, or in the mount at the antenna end. It can also be in the head unit itself, (an open ground between the AM antenna tuning circuit and the antenna connector ground). This can be diagnosed with a head unit from another Crossfire; if you take the unit from the other car and it does not do it in YOUR car, your head unit is to blame.
As to the antenna:
I' have never taken my antenna mount apart, never had the problem myself, and I've never looked closely at how the antenna mount goes together. Sorry I can't be of more help.
I would try swapping head units with another Crossfire if anyone has one close to you. This is an EASY diagnostic trick, at least you'll know if the head unit is OK, then you can move on from there.
Is this a Coupe or Roadster?

Go to Community, Members List, Search, Advanced Search and put in 'Tampa' for the location.
Then look for members that have visited this month.
Send 'em a PM and see if anyone is willing to try PG's swap idea ......

Radio problems are my specialty (I've earned a living in Radio for 30 years) ... I wish I was closer and could help more.
IF I miss any more of your posts, send me a PM and I'll do what I can from here!

No change in AM interference.... up or down at various RPM's.
Will try the suggestions mentioned, and go from there.
Thanks for the responses.
The Coupes have that damn window-antenna in them. I have never owned a coupe, but we learned in the 70's that window-antennas are worthless.
So, how about other coupe owners chime in and tell us: How is your AM reception?
I know things have changed since the '70's... but still, just how good IS the AM reception on a coupe?
I know that both of my Roadsters provide very good AM reception.
