Question Question regarding dashboard element

Hey all, first post but I've been lurking for a bit so I think I've gotten the hang of things around here a bit.

I'm the proud owner of an 05 Ltd coupe, and I love every bit of it. I've run into a small problem, though; There is an element on the dashboard that I'm not familiar with that I think might be broken. Not knowing what exactly what it does means that I can't accurately assess the situation, so I thought I'd come here.

The issue is with a digital temperature display of some sort on the left area of the gauge cluster, under the engine temperature gauge. I at first assumed it was outside temperature, but I've found that either I'm dead wrong or the sensor is broken, as temperature fluctuates wildly from negative degrees to as high as over 100 degrees.

As such, I'm not entirely sure what to do about the problem, or even what the display does for that matter. Does anyone have any insight into the matter? Thanks.

There is a probe for this and it is mounted on the lower grille in front of the driver. Sometimes this comes unclipped and goes haywire.
The probe should be visible, if not remove the grille and re install it on the grille.

It displays the outside temperature.

Edit:: 180 beat me to it, what he said :P

That is outside temp, the car needs to be moving for it to accurately report the temp, it should not be jumping all over the place though. Chances are it came loose. Check the lower grill on the drivers side, that is where it is connected. Should be mounted close to the middle if I am remembering correctly. Yours may be dangling back in there some place and not reading properly.
