Thumbs down Minor problems big expense

OK, called the Chrysler Dealer to get my saggin headliner reapired and one rear speaker repaired. Over $1800. Damm - seems like more than twice what I was figuring to spend. Any helpful hints on these? They said the parts cost were $400 for one speaker and over $1000 for the headliner. Jeese.

Take the car to a local upholstery shop. Expect $150 to $250 and shop around between them. Rear speakers show up here and on Ebay on occasion.

Chrysler would probably farm the job out anyways.. LOL

Plenty of threads found when using the search feature on these sagging.

See that’s the problem with branded cars and the manufacturers will try to fool us.

You might do a little better for the speaker here: Car Selector

You can search for speakers by vehicle.

Well the speaker costs is very elevated and that may be because of the limited time companies need to hold parts and that Harman (the OEM for the system) in all of their restructuring over the past few years has stopped building them all together. Keep in mind the contracts were with DC not Chrysler so when that partnership was dissolved Chrysler essentially has to buy parts from Mercedes and this is evident when you compare parts costs between the two companies and find that Mercedes is about half as costly for the same part.

On the aftermarket side you could look into Infinity Primus or Reference speakers that will drop in for around 200.00 but then you have labor on top of that unless you DIY. As for the headliner, a typical rewrap in something like suede is going to run a shop about $8 - $14 a linear foot so there is less than a $100 in material and labor might be two hours to do it.
