Factory Amplifier Replacement
Sorry if I missed the definitive answer to this (I have tried searching).
I am curious if anyone has been successful in completely replacing the stock amp with an aftermarket unit, using the stock location for the replacement. I have seen posts that state that there are connection to the amp from the body control module etc, that could nbot be removed without problems. I have also seen posts that state that this is not an issue.
Before I purchaser a replacement amp, door speakers ans subwoofers, I would like to be sure that this stuff will work. I have found several amps that will meet my needs and fit in place of the stock amp, I just need to here from someone that this is possible and is not going to cause issues with other electrical systems in the car.
I have a roadster, so as far as I am concerned there is no other option for mounting location.
Rockford Fosgate (Punch PBR's) and Kicker (PX series) are making some very interesting amps targeted at the powersports segment that are very small (I may even be able to fit a monoblock and a 2ch in that space....

Sorry for the long post,
Alpine 4.1 fits nicely in the original location. Here's a link to a thread where I researched this a couple of years ago and got lots of help on the forum. I have no complaints at all about the amp or headunit that I installed. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...need-help.html
I replaced my stock amp with two sony amps (xm-4s) in the stock location. The stock amp was simply unplugged with no issues. I replaced the stock head unit with one made by Pioneer. I did use a wiring adapter from Crutchfield for the head unit, but I used my own wiring for the speakers .amps,etc. Hope this helps.
