Keep me posted on your progress.
What are you planning with the hazard light switch?
So, making a tray where cup holder goes that pulls up and is tyhe switch panel?
Would a triangular panel work there also, that rolls, one side smooth and can leave facing up, roll one way and the switches rotate up, the 3rd side is for wiring.
Make any sense to you?
Have a vivid pic in my head and mounting.
The tray as I call it would look like your pics but the whole faceplate would lift out instead of having to remove the whole center console.
The tray flange would be a little thicker than the flange of the little cubby that replaces the cup holder.
The triangular idea has problems with the plug area being quite deep.

Nvm it is a kit for the nexus 7 tablet not a double din radio.
I do have a nexus 7, but why mount a tablet for a radio???

Default Dash cam and other functions built into rear view mirror

I just took a look at the TEQ stone dash cam which provides front & rear dash cam; gps; video playing, down loading of android apps as unit is android based. Selling for $119 on amazon. Clips on to your existing mirror. Looks interesting.

I hired a fabricator and we stole the design of the bezel from the Alpine demo car from back in the day. It now fits the 8” Alpine 801DU.

That is a super sized screen, makes me green with envy.
Does the paint colour match the original pretty well?
If so do you know what was used?

Thanks. The Alpine demo car featured a 7” double din back then. We wanted to go bigger. 8” was about the largest that would fit in the original bezel, whilst keeping enough body around the unit to not crack/split.

It matches the color almost perfectly. I think it’s ‘satin silver’.

I put the switches in the arm rest and kept the ash tray module intact in the original position. I have to make new stops and add a release mechanism for the shortened ash tray. I also need to paint it and the whole console.
I intend to make another one like yours and leave out the ash tray mechanism, move the lighter and passenger air bag light.
I am not sure which style I will keep in the car, each has its merits.

The second variation of a Double DIN face-plate.
Both versions have been undercoated and just need a finish coat. The lighter and passenger airbag warning light have since been added to this later version.

Looks pretty neat. I wish our cars came with those double dins from factory. It makes them look so much more modern.

Why? Why didn't Chrysler design it this way in the first place? That is so cool. Thanks for sharing.
