Rear subs/speakers vibrating
Rear subs/speakers vibrating
After further investigation, I think my rear speakers/subs are rattling behind the two seats. I think the speakers are fine but they need something to eliminate the nvh. Do you guys use dynamat or foam between and behind the screws and the basket?
I'm buying a flip-out Android Auto Pioneer headunit.

Re: Rear subs/speakers vibrating
It looks like the FSK-6P206 is sold on their site as "Standard" and "JBL." Both are 6.5-inches, so I am guessing that they're the same thing (Y'know, like how Chinese eBay sellers list a universal product but specify a certain car/year/model for the same exact thing, making hundreds of listings for one product that causes too much scrolling to get to the good stuff.)
I love good audio, and I've been listening to pfft pfft pfft bass for far too long. I'm going to try the "Standard" set and see how DIY I can get before having to take it to the audio shop.

PLEASE, take the time to read the reviews of the FSK=6P206 on the Simple Speakers web site. There is info there that will help with your DYI repair to the speakers behind the seats. You should also search for the "more bang for the buck speaker" DIY enhancement, as it will bring a more balanced sound to the OEM system for very little money. You will put capacitors in the door mounted speakers to help the wolfers sound deeper. The thread is a sticky in the audio, video section. Check it out!

Hi Zip!
After spending more time on the Parts Express site, it dawned on me that my cone is torn, so the DIY fix won't help me. Now I'm shopping the 6.5" subs and it's been a bit hit or miss.
In my journey, I'm attempting to update the old list posted somewhere by Choppy. Many are no longer available, but I'd like to think better things have come along! I've got my eyes on Kicker CompRT 43CWRT671 or 2, but I must learn more about voice coils first. They both have two coils, but one is 1-ohm, the other 2.
$0.02: The capacitor fix was the first thing I did when I got my car, then upgraded the HU to all the bells and whistles (I love it blocking the bottom buttons vs. the comfort controls). I had my Infinity standalone sub installed in my trunk, but it only worked for a short time (power yes, sound no). Now I'm looking at the JBL BassProSL, but am not sure if the seat clearance is enough (unit stands only (2.1875 inches high).
Shopping on!

Re: Rear subs/speakers vibrating
For anyone else looking to take the rear speakers out. Here's a youtube video on the process.
I made the mistake of buying foam speaker seals. Rubber ones would probably be a lot more durable. I don't think I would recommend foam ones in a car. The ones in this video look a lot more durable as they are rubber. Buy rubber ones!
