Default Security module

Hi all. Forgive me as I'm relatively new and have zero technical knowledge. My 2004 Crossfire - automatic - wouldn't start a few days ago. The local garage wasn't able to find the fault but believed it to be immobiliser related. Eventually it got towed to my nearest Chrysler dealer/specialist over 100 miles away (I live in remote N Wales) Arnold Clark in Wigan. They have now diagnosed the problem as the 'security module' which they advise needs replacing with a part cost of £1700 (one thousand seven hundred pounds). They advise that only an original Chrysler part can be used, not an aftermarket part or second hand one.
To be clear this post is not complaining about Arnold Clark who have been really helpful just a request to advise if there is an alternative option and/or if there is a garage near to Wigan that could undertake the work?
Many thanks
Kevin

Kevin, this module can be ordered from Rob at Needswings, com for around $280 not counting the shipping.
It is a fairly easy DIY requiring no special tools and about 2 hours of your time.
Our friend Paul Digeur of Canada has posted a how-to on YouTube,

BTW, it's called the SKREEM module.

Kevin, while you're at it, I suggest you do the sticky key fix too.
