Default 2005 srt radio problem

My 2005 srt (3 weeks new to me) Infinity Modulus radio "aud" and "opt" buttons don't seem to work. Nothing happens when they are pressed or even held down for a few seconds. I found this out when I thought the radio should sound better ( lacking bass and fidelity sounds crappy) that's how I found out I couldn't change the audio settings, bass or treble the cds sound better. Any hints?

Click on the link below, it will give you a step by step DIY on improving the sounds that come out of your speakers. This mod will cost you a dollar and you will notice the difference in your radio's performance. This has been an issue since this thread was started in 2006!
Good Luck....

I will be doing the capacitor mod. But My main issue is the "aud" and "opt" buttons don't seem to do anything, they don't change the display to tell me what "mode" I'm in, they just seem dead.

I had an issue with my cd button not working. I was able to take the radio apart and clean the contacts on the switch. There is a cover that pops off the radio, Then there are 4 screws toward the front face to remove . There are some side tabs to release, then you can remove the front face. Once it's removed there are 4 screws on the back of the face plate to remove. Now it gets a little tricky, there are 2 plastic pins the hold the black backing in place. You'll need to carefully pry the black back off without damaging the circuit board underneath. Once the face is apart , there are silicone strips with carbon dots that make the connection to the circuit board. You need to clean those with a que tip and rubbing alcohol as well as the contact surface on the circuit board. Then put it back together in reverse order. Good luck

Why not go to WalMart and get the RIGHT tool?

I didn't watch past the first minute, didn't see a reason to.

Up date, removed the radio, cleaned the switch contacts, still "aud" and "opt" buttons don't. Fm sound pretty lousy, no fidelity, I don't think I can program stations to memory (I will check with my owners manual to do it correctly) cd sounds good. Also adde 220 mfd capacitors to front speakers. I may look for a replacement radio or just put up with it.
