Default Fried Siren wires

It's been about 6 months since I started my 05 roadster, started fine but I noticed a little white smoke coming up from the cowl... Shut her off and removed the negative battery cable and removed the cowl cover under the hood and found that the siren melted at where the pigtail plugs in.

Looked online and was able to source a siren and a pigtail. when I went to install the pigtail I noticed that when I stripped the wires on the original harness two were burnt black (one was still good). I used crimp connectors to see if the siren would work and it would not beep when locking/unlocking but did work (barely, it was really struggling) when I hit the panic button on the remote. I stripped back over 6" and the 2 wires are still black, don't have much more left :-(.

Any ideas, or should I just move on without a siren?

Thanks, Ken

In my opinion no one pays attention to the sirens anyway unless you can hear it inside your home?
