Fitting LED license plate lights with easy removal
I have seen the mess of the paint people have made around the OEM license plate opening when fitting LED lights.
I have fitted them after carefully removing the originals. I found a way to fit them such that you just pluck out the LED unit with your fingers
The lamps plastic is to hard and rigid, they will be harder to get out than the OEM ones.
This is achieved by filing a notch into the outside face of the so called spring that normally snaps behind the sheet metal where the lamp sits.
Using a smooth triangle file the notch half the thickness of the foam gasket above the face of the main body. The bottom of the notch is parallel to the main body. You file the notch depth until the lamp slides into place with a bit of resistance and you can pluck it out.
Done correctly it will be secure and the foam seal will do its job.
I'll add a Photo later.

Can you help more with this? I'm wanting to replace my plate lights to LED. And I don't know how to replace. Are they lamp replacement or the entire body as a post shows from Ebay.
