Default Drive Clean Testing

Early Crossfire models will now need testing as they turn 7 & 8 yrs old. My '05 got tested for the first time today. Unlike automatic, front wheel drive vehicles, the Crossfire was measured at idle and low rpm. 2,500rpm to be exact.
Here are the three components and how the car performed.

HCppm Limit 150, Crossfire 39
CO% Limit 0.70, Crossfire 0.02
NOppm Limit N/A, Crossfire N/A

Thought it would be interesting to compare to other Crossfires as they are tested. Who has the cleanest engine?!!

Mine was done right after I first imported it. I will dig up the info to compare readings but they may differ anyway.

No Hancooks and I will probably get the Conti DW's.
My engine is probably cleaner than a DD anyway.

Did you guys ever noticed that the test results are often not even close to the set allowed limits? In almost every case, it is because the test itself is often not performed properly. Running an engine at idle will not simulate a car at a red light, in Drive. Reving the engine in neutral or in gear will not simulate the conditions of a car accelerating, cruising and coasting accurately. The most accurate way to perform an Etest is by using a Threadmill.

I know, in my area anyways, I have not seen an Etest facility equipped with a threadmill. Is a threadmill a common sight in Southern Ontario? I have 2 vehicles so, every year or so, I witness the Etest technician reving and idling and taking samples that he thinks look good. Some places are only concerned with pumping cars thru to collect their fee and there's no faster way to do this then with a "Pass", right?

One thing is sure, if the Etests were done using the required tools and techniques, a lot more cars and trucks would fail, requiring emisions repairs.

Cheers to all SOCO members!

I had my one done at CTC in Bolton and they have rollers in the floor, I walked around and I saw the wheels running on it.

When I go on a medical clinics treadmill I get exhausted and if I farted maybe I would get "FAIL".

The drive clean test costs $35, no money to be made by anyone at that price. The only money to be made is fixing them if they fail and there is a max limit on how much that is to cost before it gets a pass.

Now Beaner I gotta ask...... What criteria would they use as a benchmark for a "PASS" when you have the only 5.5 Ltr Crossfire in Canada ? Were they scratching their heads at the Drive Clean Centre or did B. Hill just sign away?

they just filled in the blanks on the screen with 5.5L and 8 cylinders... and taa daa... those values showed up. No idea where they came from or what program Ontario driveclean uses. It might be the same criteria as the stock 3.2L engine??? And I got rid of the 2 rear catalytic converters and still passed easily

I am pretty sure it goes by the vin #. Unless that changes... same test
