Drive Clean Testing
Early Crossfire models will now need testing as they turn 7 & 8 yrs old. My '05 got tested for the first time today. Unlike automatic, front wheel drive vehicles, the Crossfire was measured at idle and low rpm. 2,500rpm to be exact.
Here are the three components and how the car performed.
HCppm Limit 150, Crossfire 39
CO% Limit 0.70, Crossfire 0.02
NOppm Limit N/A, Crossfire N/A
Thought it would be interesting to compare to other Crossfires as they are tested. Who has the cleanest engine?!!

The Hankooks make all the difference.

My engine is probably cleaner than a DD anyway.

You'll have the rears worn down in no time.
Did you guys ever noticed that the test results are often not even close to the set allowed limits? In almost every case, it is because the test itself is often not performed properly. Running an engine at idle will not simulate a car at a red light, in Drive. Reving the engine in neutral or in gear will not simulate the conditions of a car accelerating, cruising and coasting accurately. The most accurate way to perform an Etest is by using a Threadmill.
I know, in my area anyways, I have not seen an Etest facility equipped with a threadmill. Is a threadmill a common sight in Southern Ontario? I have 2 vehicles so, every year or so, I witness the Etest technician reving and idling and taking samples that he thinks look good. Some places are only concerned with pumping cars thru to collect their fee and there's no faster way to do this then with a "Pass", right?
One thing is sure, if the Etests were done using the required tools and techniques, a lot more cars and trucks would fail, requiring emisions repairs.
Cheers to all SOCO members!

Now Beaner I gotta ask...... What criteria would they use as a benchmark for a "PASS" when you have the only 5.5 Ltr Crossfire in Canada ? Were they scratching their heads at the Drive Clean Centre or did B. Hill just sign away?

I am pretty sure it goes by the vin #. Unless that changes... same test

It might be the same criteria as the stock 3.2L engine??? And I got rid of the 2 rear catalytic converters and still passed easily
