Thanks for sharing those, nice pics. I watched a lot of it this weekend, that is until my wife made me change the channel. I think her remark was "Can't you watch football like normal people do?"
Amazed at some of the prices. I gotta think that when some of these people get home they gotta think, I spent that much for that car????!!!!!
I heard from my daughter who lives out there that the other auction (Russo and Steele?) suffered heavy damage from the storm this weekend.
Thanks for the pics!

This was my first trip to Barrett, and it was exciting, both inside and out.

We got there Thur morning, (all flights behind us were canceled), and by night time the weather was really moving in. We decided to leave the auction about 6:45. The whole tent roof was moving up and down about 4 to 6 feet, it looked like an ocean. You could hear all the aluminum beams creaking and occasionally the loud "pop" of beam bolts breaking. All I could think of was the Dallas training tent coming down earlier this year. We must of missed the evacuation by only 20 mins.

The Russo and Steele Car Auction across the street wasn't as lucky. Their tent came down and blew pieces across the interstate, shutting it all down. No one was injured but a million+ in damages. There were two tornados in the area that night, one about 15 mins away.

The second day had much better weather, but I still had to scrape the ice off the rental car with my room key card in the morning.

Here's the ABC write-up on tent collapse.

Very cool you got to go. That must have been some storm. I know Sunday night when it finally got to the east coast it was one of our bigger winter storms so far. Thank God it wasn't snow or we'd still be digging out. I think we had 2-3 inches of rain overnite Sunday.

We were lucky, Sky Harbor airport was shut down by the afternoon. Phoenix got a years worth of rain in one day, and Flagstaff got something like 5 feet of snow. It's just crazy out there! It still was fun.

Sorry I missed you. Maybe next year we can meet. It really is a great experience. I regards to the money I know a couple of those people and all I can say it is just a matter of zeros. Did you see Clive Cussler? I was going to bid on a MG TF but it was damaged at Russo Steele. One of my life long goals is to go to Monterey for that show.

Awesome pics

Was it as fantastic as it looks? We've watched some of the auctions on the telly. I'm afraid my head might explode from pure joy being there in person.

I can totally understand why collectors do it, especially those who actually drive/ride their vehicles (Jay Leno comes to mind as well as a couple other folks). If I had scads of cash, so much that I could take care of all my loved ones, take care of some major donations (medical care/research for stricken friends) and I still had the bucks left over, I'd have a warehouse full of gorgeous mobiles (and bikes).

I'm just grateful that so many people see fit to preserve these vehicles. Humans certainly have the capacity to built things of amazing beauty and power when we put our minds to it.

Bat nicely said. It would be nice to do all the things you mentioned and still have cash left over. Maybe the next time around this world.
