2013 Euro Auto Festival - OCT 18-20
Re: 2013 Euro Auto Festival - OCT 18-20
Roberta & I are participating in one of the Upcountry Wine Tours on Friday. So we'll get our showfield packet on Friday morning before leaving Embassy Suites at 0930 for the Wine Tour. Caravan is going to stop at three (3) Upcountry vineyards for wine tastings. We may come back to Embassy Suites later on Friday to meet the group in the hospitality room. Let us know when everyone plans to show up Friday evening.

Re: 2013 Euro Auto Festival - OCT 18-20
Dennis, thanks for including the photo in your album. The car in the photograph is actually a 1968/69 AMX, not a "Javelin" AMX. (Very common mistake because they look very much alike).
The Javelin is 1 foot longer, has a back seat, different hood and grille, and a different C-pillar that gives the Javelin less of a fastback roofline than the AMX has. The 2 seat AMX was built in 68/69/70. The Javelin AMX was built in 71/72/73/74.
The Javelin was considered a "Pony Car", the AMX was a 2 seat Sports/Sports GT/Sports Muscle car.
24 AMX's were actually built in Australia in 1969, but I guess that fact wouldn't get them into the EuroFest would it?

Well, the 2013 Euro Auto Festival is over. Car show was a big success, even though the weather tried nearly all day to be uncooperative. Overcast all day and we had some light rain early in the day. But everyone attending had a great time and the cars were absolutely amazing to see up close.
Featured marque this year was Ferrari and 45 of these Italian exotics were on the showfield. Really something to see all that Italian flare "up close & personal". A total of 413 cars ended up attending the event, which was slightly over the limit of 400 that the event committee established. But the good thing was that the show was completely filled with pre-registered cars. That enabled the event committee to map out the showfield ahead of time by specifying a parking spot for every car within the respective marque. The bad thing was that if you didn't pre-register your car, you didn't get to show your car. Quite a few folks were turned away at the gate unable to register their car when they drove up this morning.
We had 7 XFires on the showfield - 4 SRT's and 3 NA's. The Euro Event Committe was pleased that we increased our numbers from last year's show. As is typical, we had a great time together at the event talking about our cars. And we answered quite a few inquiries as to why our Chryslers were allowed in the event. Still a lot of folks out there that don't know and/or remember these cars during the ties betweem M-B & Chrysler.
Anyway, I'll post pictures later this weekend. In the meantime, below are the XFire winners at this year's Euro AutoFest.
1st Place - 2007 Machine Gray Limited Coupe (still the best looking color) / Dennis Edwards
2nd Place - 2008 Inferno Red Limited Coupe / Joanna Webster
3rd Place & "Peoples Choice" - 2005 SSB SRT-6 Coupe / Jim Robertson

Dennis thanks for posting the pictures. You did a great job capturing the feel of the event with all the showfield photos. It sure was exciting seeing all thoes great cars in one location. I was surprised at the amount of attention the Crossfires got from the viewing public with all the true supercars and classics eye candy covering the showfield grass. When I mentioned this to my friends one of them said it is because the Crossfire is a car that they could actually owne, where ownership of most of the heavy hitters is just a pipe dream.
I really enjoyed being with the Crossfire owners again, all of which are good friends by now. It was fun watching you all interact with the viewers and tell the Crossfire story over and over again. I got a kick out of hearing my friends Robert and Chuck who are not owners doing their best fielding Crossfire questions when we were all engaged talking to others.
As we have said many times before this a perfect venue for a Crossfire GTG. I know it comes up quickly after the Dragon, but hey that is a bonus because you have already done the heavy detailing and just need a quick clean up to show your car again. If you enjoy the experience of strangers coming up to you at a gas station or resturant and saying wow that is a beautiful car tell me about it, then you will love this place. We had 7 Cars this year. Next year I hope we make it to double digits.

Jim - You gotta go to that www.DoubleVisions.US website. The picture of your car under the 1st Place & Crowd Pleasers is AWESOME! It would have been one of the "best ever" pic's I've seen if Allen Webster wasn't drving the car! Hah, Hah, Hah!!!
